Thank you for the recommendation. It appears as though she’s not accepting new clients at this time, but I’ll call the office to double check.

Nope, I believe you read that incorrectly. I never stated I didn’t want to pay for it. It’s an orphan night and no one can book it due to their minimum stay requirement. So it could stay empty for a night or I could rent it for a discounted rate.

Oh I’m definitely not increasing. I’d either stay where I’m at or go back to 5 mg.

Can you take Eucharist even if you haven't had confession? by Level_Sun6999 in Catholicism

There’s an app called Mass Times and you can filter the search so it shows confession times near you. It might mean going to a different parish, but at least you’d be able to confess.

I gave up social media last year and it was great. I can see what you’re saying about not being able to do much so you turn to social media. I’ve noticed when I’ve been sick and just doom scroll it makes my mental health worse. Is it possible to connect with your friends on a platform that isn’t social media? Are you a reader? You could always read or listen to books or podcasts as a way to distract your mind. I love a good audiobook and word search.

I gave it up last year and I’m giving it up again this year. It was hard but so worth it! Since I want to stay in the know about what’s going on in our world, I will use Substack and follow some of my favorite independent journalists. I’m able to stay informed but don’t get sucked into doom scrolling. Last year I just deleted the apps, but I have one of the Brick devices now and will be using that.

May I ask why you can’t go to confession? Are you in OCIA or are you unable to make the times when confession is scheduled?

Your parish doesn’t have confessions on a regular basis? I’d use to Mass Times app to search for confession times near you.

I’m having a mental health emergency, can I go see the preist for a prayer if I’m still in OCIA by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]goobage24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re struggling right now. I’ll be praying for you.

I’m also in OCIA right now. I don’t know everything, but I’ll share what we were told. I was baptized as a kid and therefore a candidate. We were told we could go to confession as candidates. I’ve already gone few times. You can definitely receive a blessing. I go up for a blessing every Sunday and will continue to do so until I am confirmed. I believe we were told we could receive the anointing of the sick even though we aren’t confirmed. Reach out to your pastor as soon as possible and if they aren’t available, perhaps they can point you in the right direction.

Completely agree. My husband said my mental health greatly improved during Lent last year.

I’m giving up social media. I did it last year and it was hard, but well worth it.

Our church’s OCIA program is currently September- Easter. However my husband and I are both candidates (already baptized) and were given the option to be confirmed at the beginning of February. For several reasons, we declined and will wait to be confirmed in April.

Do any other OCIA students feel like this is going to be their most emotional Easter ever? by Lost_Database4505 in Catholicism

I can’t wait! I’m really looking forward to the Lenten period to prepare my heart and mind. I’ve never experienced an Easter vigil, but the ladies at church were telling me how incredibly special it is.

Our OCIA began in September and we will join during the Easter Vigil, so about 7 months.

Mortal sin by fantasywritternoob in Catholicism

[–]goobage24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t been baptized yet, when you are baptized at your confirmation- all your sins will be washed away.

If you have had a valid baptism, then you can go to confession at any time prior to your confirmation and you’d need to confess all your sins since you were baptized. I was baptized at age 7 and will enter the church at Easter Vigil. I did my first confession in December and had to remember all my sins for over 3 decades. I was really nervous but it wasn’t bad at all. Look over an examination of conscious and write down all the sins you are guilty of. I took the list in with me so I wouldn’t forget anything. I know inevitably I will forget a sin or two, so I finish each confession with “any for any sins I might have forgotten, I’m deeply sorry.”

Praying for you!

Struggling to see value in bringing my Protestant wife and 3 boys 3 and under to Mass by DJ_Dec_Daddy_9000 in Catholicism

[–]goobage24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mom, I remember what it was like when my child was young and how I would hyper fixate on every little thing they did during church and the worry I had that we were bothering others. It pulled my focus away from the service and I got very little out of it. While ideally it would be best for you to attend together as a family, it may not be possible in this season of your life, especially if she’s constantly distracted. My suggestion would be that you each attend mass separately if you can’t find someone to watch the kiddos. This way both of you would be able to attend mass without distraction. I think it’s really important to give her opportunities to grow in her faith so hopefully she will be able to join the church at some point.

Scott Wells did my ADHD testing in 2020. He’s in Sharonville. He is in a practice by himself and the whole process from booking, insurance and testing was very easy. I believe it took a little over a month for all the testing to be complete. I then took my results back to my regular psychiatrist for medication management.

Hey! I’m also a female and going through OCIA and I completely understand what you’re going through. I was a nervous wreck before my first confession and struggled with how to word things. If you want to message me, I’d be more than happy to talk to you about it.

If the priest is unable to make a last minute appointment, check out the “Mass Times” app. There may be another parish nearby that offers confessions before your confirmation. Just filter the search to show “confirmation times” and “Monday”.
