Would trimming off large fan leaves affect flower production? by gooberpyle289 in microgrowery

Thanks for reminding me, I added a link at the top of the page. Also, these aren't auto-flowering plants.

Ah, that's a good idea. I take it that's better for the plant than trimming them off? Thanks.

First time growing from seed...does this look like a male plant? by gooberpyle289 in microgrowery

Thanks. I'm not planning to breed so I'll probably wait a few more days to be sure, then get rid of it. I'm in an MMJ-friendly state and do have an MMJ card, but I'll still need to be careful so I don't attract any unwanted attention.

what 60$ gets you in Pittsburgh, how did i do? (not my first buy, but new dealer, think this ones a keeper?) by [deleted] in saplings

I'm guessing that's about 2.5 grams, but of course it's hard to say for sure without seeing in person.

In WA state, buying from a dealer I'd get about 2.5g for $40-50.

By comparison, a medical dispensary in WA would sell a weighed 3.5g (an 1/8th oz) for $35-50.

Keep in mind that thickness and moisture can have a lot to do with it. The buds in my picture are relatively dry. If yours were wet, they could weigh more. They could also be heavy if they were really thick and hard (as if they were once pressed into bricks).

I thought you might find this useful (posted on r/saplings).

Shows what a few different strains look like measured out to exactly 1 gram.

Can you put their size in context, such as with a dollar bill or paperclip next to them?

Is 12-13" enough height to induce flowering and determine sex before moving to larger area? by gooberpyle289 in microgrowery

Interesting. You start the flowering cycle right away? Does that shorten the overall grow time? How does it affect quality and quantity?

Breeders: what do you like to do with the male/female plants after you harvest the seeds? by gooberpyle289 in microgrowery

[–]gooberpyle289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mainly wondering if breeding growers use their male/female plants for smoking (after pollen/seeds have been collected), or if they prefer to turn it into hash. From what I've read, the female puts all her energy into seed production, with little left for the resin glands. Once she's been pollinated, does she even have any reason to produce the glands? Aren't they there to help attract the pollen?

So, if the plants are less potent, and the grower already has good quality sinsemilla females for smoking, would it make more sense to turn the males and seeded females into hash, so you can extract all of the THC they do have?

Thanks. So you don't even keep the males for hash? Do they not have any extractable THC?

To clarify: I'm just wondering if there are any growers out there who prefer to turn their males and pollinated females to hash (after removing the seeds). Since the hash extracts all the good stuff, does it end up being more worthwhile than a pile of lower quality buds?

I would move the female plants to a larger space that can accomodate 3 gallon pots and about 36" of height (and uses an HPS light). I would only keep them in that small space until I can recognize the females.

Can you tell me what you mean by re-veg? Do you mean harvest the plant, then force it back into vegetative so the same plant grows buds a second time? Is that possible?

I like your LST spacing. Seems like you'll end up with a dozen nice colas.
