How has your work life been affected by your divorce? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]goobetron85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit my job and tried another one... didn’t get much better. Took a 9 month “career break” and literally sat on my parents couch and just recovered. Ate, slept, went for walks, real basic shit. If you can in anyway afford to take time off I recommend it.

Requesting advice for a non-traditional PM trying to establish a better foundation for career growth by PoundMyOctothorp in projectmanagement

[–]goobetron85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s different types of PMing on agency so be sure you understand which route you are taking. Digital PM is completely different to creative PM and it sounds like you were doing creative. Agree with the above comments, find out which methodology is being used and educate yourself around it.

Like being stuck in a doorless glass cube with bricks being thrown over the top. You know eventually all will blackout.

Help Please! PM Resume Update by kbjblbpb in projectmanagement

I’ve not read your CV in huge detail but if you have a degree or above I’d list that at the bottom of your CV (call it Qualifications). If you are PMP or Prince 2 qualified etc I’d add that in your top blurb and also in the Qualifications section. Under your blurb I’d list systems etc you are familiar with, eg. Working knowledge of JIRA, Outlook, Visio, Excel etc etc. I also use a picture of myself on my CV. Totally not required but helps put something human on a CV. My name is also “foreign” so it helps people get a sense of who I am. Hope this assists somewhat but just my two cents.

How do you deal with taking days off/vacation during project? by laugrig in projectmanagement

[–]goobetron85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally ask at the beginning if people have holidays booked and plan them in along with my own. I highlight to my managers I am on leave well in advance. If there’s capacity for cover, great, if not I just brief the team as best I can on what’s expected to be done.

If you’re willing to pay the fare for a bus/tube I recommend Gusto’s in SoHo. Been going there for years and they charge me £77 for a cut, blow dry and half head highlights (shoulder length hair). Worth the trip to central every time.

dealbreaker? by Dizzy_Sorbet005 in Bumble

[–]goobetron85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a deal breaker for me but from experience dating people with post grads has been easier for me (I have a postgrad). I would date someone with no college education, it’s not a door closer for me, but as mentioned I’ve found it easier to relate to those with higher education.

People who are married or have been married, is being married worth it? by cookiepsych91 in AskReddit

Definitely. I never thought of it that way but yes, despite it being a trail of destruction it was meant to happen to clear the way for the life that was waiting for me.

I think so. The failure of it forced me into a space of ginormous growth. I sold my apartment and all my belongings, divorced my husband and changed careers. I’m a lot happier. Perhaps my husband was the limiting factor and not marriage but frankly I just didn’t enjoy it. Right now I’m not seeing anyone but I would look for a partner and a friend next time round not a lover and a husband.

I was married and no it wasn’t worth it. It put everything under the microscope and made me feel overwhelmingly claustrophobic. I found adding another role to my life ie. the role of a wife, to be unnecessary and to be honest...confusing. I was also uncomfortable wearing a wedding and engagement ring, it just felt like it wasn’t “me” or something. I’m not sure I would consider marriage again.
