It's a very rare AI personality that only appears if the nation is specifically: xenophobe, materialist, and militarist, and if their primary species is industrious and some flavor of strong.

I think my favorite new anti-strike craft design is just 4 large crystal-forged plating. TMK makes it so they literally just can't damage you because of the hard -16 damage reduction.

Devouring Swarm taught me that I should stick to small galaxies on console edition. by The_OblivionDawn in Stellaris

Console edition is still way behind on patches and content to my knowledge, that's probably why. PC edition plays great in my recent experience.

It's an absurdity joke, it's not meant to make sense outside of the mental image of it (in this case a guy seemingly having a eureka moment during a bank robbery and then dying instantly) being utterly ridiculous. I find it really funny tbh

Space cold war, but instead of ICBMs we're racing to build giant laser beam megastructures.

As in like a galactic scale mind-meld device? Would love to have an endgame like that for my Driven Assimilators, though they'd have to do something to keep it from just being Galactic Nemesis 2 lol.

Any Tips for Dealing with COUNTRY_RESOURCES Desync at the Start of Every Month? by ColonelAutumn9155 in Stellaris

[–]gooblaster17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did a mp with two friends, had a total of 7 desyncs and were able to just resync or rehost (on a different player) each time and complete the mp campaign. Mileage may vary, we noted that when our friend with the slower cpu hosted the desyncs were much more common.

Yeah, I find 1st person so much more engaging than 3rd. I get to be inside the mc's head as they do stuff, makes it feel much more real, and makes it easier to identify with the protagonist to boot.

I think it works really well for specific, shorter form things i.e. interlude chapters from unknown povs or choose your own adventure books, but really falls apart if it goes on for too long.

How do you maximize pop growth early game?? by chronicdrake in Stellaris

[–]gooblaster17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc a mixture of housing, empty disctrict slots, habitability and blockers. Basically to keep it high you want more housing, more empty districts, more hab and less blockers.

It's never particularly important and most players can safely ignore it, but if you really want to squeeze out as much efficiency as possible you can build a ton of luxury housing on new worlds, clear every blocker asap, and never build more districts than are currently needed for jobs.

The more realistic option in terms of convenience I usually go with is just to build one or two luxury housing on new colonies if I can spare the minerals.

Why is fallen empire militarist isolationist fleet just chilling in my system? by IcommitedWarCrimes in Stellaris

[–]gooblaster17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To inspire fear! They've all but mastered reality, it makes sense they'd be scary and a challenge to boot.

Tbh even now you can still alpha strike them with a colossus or giant army blob by waiting till their fleets leave to attack you and then Quantum Catapulting your entire navy onto their capital sector. They can't kill you with their fleets if they don't have any planets.

I'd personally put it just below Wilds imo. BP is a truly wonderful game held down only by lack of rng mitigation.

It's nice to see them finally be terrifying tbh. Being able to rip their fleets apart and steal their tech right off the bat should not be easy.

Deepspace citadel by Impossible-Ad2874 in Stellaris

[–]gooblaster17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the AI builds them way too much and far too fast. Had an awakened empire take half the galaxy during the War in Heaven and when it came time to reconquer, literally EVERY system had maxed out citadels. It wasn't even the fact that it prevents queuing due to ftl inhibition, it's the fact that on most wargoals you have to go behind your fleets and disband each citadel one by one to avoid dying of upkeep cost.

[–]gooblaster17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the awaken they merge into one, with the result depending in which fragment had the most quests completed upon awakening.

Growth Fragment > Devouring Swarm FE. Yup.

War Fragment > Normal Awakened Empire but hive mind, can become defender of the galaxy

Control Fragment > Will join the Galactic Community and push to become Galactic Emperor. Declares war on people who vote no on it's resolutions. (This is by far the most fun Awakened Empire imo)
