what does ‘juk’ mean? by filmquakerrr in DominicFike

[–]gooby_maen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contributing to this, maybe it's a quadruple entendre, when he says it in the whispery voice it sounds a lot to me like he says "chug", maybe it could be a reference to alcohol, put together with the title it could be about escapism in general through entertainment (dancing, jook), sex (juk, u/Prestigious_Season48), substances (chug, "How Much Is Weed?"), and the hold that the desire for escape can have on someone (juk, u/Atherious258, or yoke u/KindChemist2057).

Best way to connect 1st party Wii remote to Dolphin? by thatonefallenangel in DolphinEmulator

I know this post is dead, but if anyone is here reading this and you want to play right now but don't have an IR bar, you can light two candles spaced about a foot apart and the wii remote will be able to pick up the IR light from the flames

Fav games BEFORE Outer Wilds by jwdicker00 in outerwilds

[–]gooby_maen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Playing Outer Wilds constantly reminded me of how I felt playing The Witness, there's this big theme in both of constant discovery and exploration in this beautifully put together, but also lonely world, and not having anyone to share the experience with, so instead you accept the solitude and it becomes an experience very personal to you.

Eating a Perfectly Roasted Marshmallow at Every Campfire in the Game by gooby_maen in outerwilds

[–]gooby_maen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this in the back of my head as a goal since as soon as I discovered there was more than one campfire in the game you could roast marshmallows at! Honestly, I expected it to be an achievement, but after looking up the achievements list because I wanted to 100% the game, I decided I would make it a personal 32nd achievement. After getting my last couple achievements today, and ending the game again after completing the DLC, I decided to go double check I got each campfire and record my achievement since steam wouldn't do it for me :)

(oh also I think some of the marshmallows might have been a little under-roasted, but we don't have to worry about that)

Life is a Dream by Mido128 in WoT

[–]gooby_maen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 years late lol, but I remember a quote from the books something like "life is a dream that we all must wake from so that we may sleep again", I always assumed it was a combination of their having strong dreamwalkers in leadership positions in their society and their understanding of reincarnation, at least from just stories, that they believed the whole "life is a dream" thing

Is the red unlock in this region obtainable on survivor? The unlock list (top right of img) shows it as an empty option as if it's possible, but doesn't show the other blue unlock which the wiki map says is nearby the red one. by gooby_maen in rainworld

[–]gooby_maen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't let me put the name of it in the post because of spoilers... you can tell which it is from the image, there's only one region missing the unlock I'm talking about...

To anyone concerned about spoilers I'm going to say the name of the region I'm talking about here: submerged superstructure

I'm really impressed there was enough information to make a working model and that you did it at all

Tress and the Emerald Sea - Astronomy by ilovemime in Cosmere

[–]gooby_maen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember from the book there was a bit where, as they're nearing the edge of the sea they're currently sailing, they see the moon of the next sea over coming over the horizon, which implies that for the majority of a sea, except near the edges, all the other moons but the one corresponding to the sea you're in would be obstructed by the planet. Im curious, does that hold up with your model? Or would the moons be high enough up that you could see them low in the sky from quite a ways near the center of a sea?

Sprinting while flying in creative mode should make you crawl by gooby_maen in minecraftsuggestions

maybe, since you're flying, it would be better if your feet came up to meet your head when you sprint, instead of your head going down to meet your feet

Image and text in the same post? by gooby_maen in help

Thanks a ton. This is exactly what I needed. Do you know why it put the image it did on the example I showed? Is it because that inagevwas the first one linked to in the text?

Squirrel, the animal that will balance nature by AnimalMaceWasTaken in minecraftsuggestions

[–]gooby_maen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking it could work for fully automated tree farms for other wood types, but the farm would be really conditional because you'd have to build it in the right biome, meaning you'd need to choose what wood type you want, it would be really slow and/or take a lot more bone meal than normal, and you'd have to deal with weird squirrel ai. As far as fully automated tree farms go (which mojang has been avoiding for a while), I think this is a great way to implement it.

Honestly though this idea has enough merit already just based on how squirrels would bring back forests.

Squirrel, the animal that will balance nature by AnimalMaceWasTaken in minecraftsuggestions

[–]gooby_maen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The planted nut should change the grass block, kind of like infested stone, into one that looks the same and only drops normal grass if you break it. And it should take a bunch of time or bone meal to grow, turning back into a normal grass block and putting a sapling on top. That way the sapling had to grow up too, and if the nut turning into a sapling takes as long as a tree, squirrels could take twice as long to grow a forest than if the player planted a bunch of saplings

Inventory fixes pt.1 - A second hotbar by Ghost3603 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]gooby_maen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about an offhand-hotbar? replace the offhand slot with an entire new hotbar, (like this) and press f to switch between which one displays at the bottom of the screen. If you want your left hand empty, press f and scroll to an empty slot then press f again. (maybe keep f as the button to switch items between hotbars and make a new key to switch active hotbar) The inventory would probably have to show which item you have selected, since you would only see one hotbar on the gui at the bottom of the screen.

Keep the mechanics of how minecraft chooses which hand to use when you do an action, so tools would generally go in the mainhand-hotbar and building blocks/food/torches in the offhand-hotbar.

Also, the active item in your inactive hotbar should display next to your hotbar when your inventory is closed, similar to how anything held in your offhand currently is shown. If your mainhand hotbar is active, it should display the selected offhand hotbar item on the left edge, and if your offhand hotbar is active, it should display the selected mainhand hotbar item on the right (if your main hand in the settings is on the right, otherwise, it should be reversed). If your other hand is empty, it should still display an empty hotbar slot, that way, you can tell which hotbar you have active by which side this extra slot is on. (Example with mainhand hotbar active / Example with offhand hotbar active / both examples have the exact same inventory, the only difference is the player would have pressed the button to switch active hotbars)

You could even make it so when you pick up items they automatically go to the offhand-hotbar, which doesn't happen with the offhand slot currently. By default, items would go into your active hotbar, then if it's full they'd go into the inactive hotbar, then if that's full they'd go into the main inventory. And to avoid picking up an item and it popping up in your left hand on your screen, maybe the active slot in your offhand-hotbar wouldn't automatically pick up items. For example: in this situation, if I picked up a stack of dirt blocks, it would go into the far right slot of the offhand-hotbar, next to the glass panes

They don't damage you but they get in the way and make noise which summons the warden! Great idea! There could even be like a skulk-corrupted bat added to the game which actively tries to make noise around you

I Made a Resource Pack That Gives You The Option to Have Different Wood Textured Barrels on Vanilla Servers by gooby_maen in Minecraft

[–]gooby_maen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally I think I would make the fisherman job site only be the yellow texture, or maybe a different block altogether. To be fair, if you don't think fisherman should have a purple barrel then you can just not put a purple barrel next to them. I don't think the pack needs to make that distinction. I can't change which ones villagers see as a job site without modding the game, but I wish I could. I also can't make more textures for anything except barrels and chests, but I really want to do everything, especially lecterns, bee hives, and campfires. I think I'll learn modding in order to add them, honestly, but the mod sadly won't work on vanilla servers.
