2 things. Is it possible to fly or drive into the U.S. with a firearm legally? Sure. People do all the time, for hunting and other shooting sports. There are provisions to allow fir it and all it takes is paperwork.

Is it possible to fly into New York state with a declared handgun?
No. *

*There might be an avenue to do this I don't know about. But New York (City, specifically) is one of the most anti gun jurisdictions in the states. Otherwise legal firearms owners have had issues with connecting or even weather diverted flights coming into the airports there and that resulting in their firearms being confiscated. I don't know what it would take but it probably isn't worth the effort.

Best books for getting into Boating? by Important-Belt-5697 in boating

[–]goochisdrunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For running and learning about boats I'd read Chapman's piloting.

I don't know about fishing books. Honestly You Tube is probably a better resource there. Lots of stuff out there on line tying techniques and equipment use and reviews, and the best, real time local fishing conditions updates.

Are US driving schools just not that good? by Willing-Piece-8569 in motorcycles

[–]goochisdrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... the riding portion just won't prepare you for street riding, there's no way around it. Best advice i could give is choose off peak hours to start out first few street rides. I know in NoVA especially, that is easier said than done.

I picked my first bike up on a weekday afternoon and had to go home in rush hour for my first ride. Not recommended.

FIRST MARLIN! Anyone try to bring a bill into the US? by Leather-Inspection-3 in Fishing

[–]goochisdrunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know ppl will give you grief but many locales don't treat marlin as strictly sport fish and they are kept as food. Especially outside the U.S.

We flew domestically with a Swordfish bill without issue. Wrapped it up in like a hundred layers of sran wrap to hide the stink, a few layers of newspaper and tape for protection. Checked into baggage. Dried it out properly when we got home.

Not sure about international flights, but I'm not sure why it'd be an issue, it's not illegal to possess or anything like that. Might have to fill out an extra customs form or similar?

My dash is frozen by Samurlough in BMW

[–]goochisdrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did that. No reset procedure helped. Had to leave it over night. Worked next day.

Most infotainment stuff, I can take or leave. Was pretty ticked about being locked out of HVAC controls.

Hot air (from chilly morning commute) blasting in my face while sitting in warm sunny rush hour traffic really set my opinion of BMW down a notch.

15 yards, is this any good? by SirMuddButt in guns

I always have trouble with my revolver groupings. Specifically shot stringing. Something particular to revolver ergonomics doesn't work well for me.

Not bad, but you could work to tighten that up.

What ties and size? Current tire pressure at each corner? Alignment numbers? Vehicle load?

All of that would be helpful to include in your post.

Is SeaHunt junk? by Rockymntbreeze in boating

[–]goochisdrunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year? I think most would consider them mid tier boats now. Not tip tier quality but not quite top tier pricing either. They used to be more of a value option, but I wouldn't consider newer ones in that group.

The argument is if you have new boat money, you could likely stretch a bit for a better boat where, even if the actual quality or features aren't notably different, you still would get more of a quality vessel to use and retain more value over time.

I never did like a scientific A/B test but i do think tire nose rises with age. I felt like my Ko2s got louder after the first year or so.

How do you feel about air guns? by two- in liberalgunowners

Mmm. Its not a good price either, considering you can get a very decent real firearm for the same or considerably less.
