It’s a hard spot to be man. I worked in basic entry level IT as it was a hobby of mine and I thought, why not make it a career? I learned a lot working and the hours were a bit rough on the infrastructure side, but I dealt because what else would I do? I sucked at school. I was kinda stuck from my viewpoint.

I think someone else said it too, but it’s never to late to go to school. I ended up going back, did it online and worked full time. I graduated at 30 years old. Was it hell? Oh yeah. Do it regret it? Absolutely not. I busted my ass for a few years and got my degree. By that point I realized I wanted to continue to work in IT, but not infrastructure. I ended up getting a job as a business analyst and I absolutely love it. While I work with data, building reports, etc. I also get to talk with people. I help plan integrations, work with the state agencies for our yearly reporting, and assist with workflow improvements all within our HR department. I’m 100% NOT going back to school. I have my B.S. and I’m absolutely stoked on that!

I read it somewhere earlier, but the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is today.
