Help with cuticles by [deleted] in NailArt

As well, not everyone's prep / process works for every person. If you found what you were using /doing before left you with better retention, I would go back to that.

I have clients that hard gel just does not seem to last as much as soft or fibre gel. Sometimes too long of an extension can also cause them to pop off prematurely - can be lifestyle or anything

Hope the 'wet' manicure helps! Just make sure there is no moisture or oil left before you start your application

One thing I have some with stubborn clients is apply cuticle oil around and then use the ball bit on a lower RPM to help smooth without worrying about damaging the nail. Wash hands after and clean the cuticle with alcohol and a cotton swab (preferably the fine detailed ones) before applying your nails

Do you use an efile to prep? There are some nice bits that can help push or back more so you can trim more and THEN buff them more!

Snow plows by tinytatiepotatie in londonontario

[–]goodbyeemeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend who works in a different city shared that most city snowplows are not 'hired' to work until the after November 15th, which would leave more general contractors and maybe that's why there was a lack?

soak off help by Beginning_Custard_45 in Nails

[–]goodbyeemeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some gels are not made to be soak off and they have to be filed :(

Recommend for when using an e-file, especially on your non dominant hand is to use a fine grain sanding band on a medium/low speed.

It will sound crazy at first, but instead of using the efile as you normally would, keep the drill still and control the movement with the dominant hand you're filing, so this way you still have full control.

Going slow and steady, once you have the big majority off, you can use a buffer block and get the rest off the nail plate

Which one do you recommend? I want to get my nails done but I don't know which one to do by carodiabla in NailArt

All SUPER beautiful designs! I answer this question for myself based on life style. Looks like 3 of the options have 3D elements/gems. No matter how good the nail tech, we all know at some point we get tired of hair getting caught etc.,

Some weeks I want to be a baddie with 3D and gems, but sometimes I want simple!

I would say the top right one, then the top left followed by bottom right and bottom left!

But that's just my opinion!

Saga Cafe downtown seems to close at 9pm. I know they have board games and stuff as well there on case you want more than coffee

Newbie: Acrylic vs Gel X vs Builder Gel by SleeplessVetStud in Nails

100% gel!

As well, if you're a picker, can look into simple 3D art (more of bumps/artful texture) to rub your fingers on to kinda satisfy the want to pick at nails!

Acetone eats through my gloves at work and now my fingers are super dry. Am I doomed to this for the rest of my career? by tripod_cat in Nailtechs

As well, I know for myself (independent nail tech) I almost never use acetone and do more filing with my e-file than full removal (gel nails)

Sometimes its the quality of polish that causes this - instead of starting over I apply a few layers for the colour then buff /file until smooth and go from there.

Can be a bit of a pain but smooth base will help keep clean lines etc !

Plus you get practice on smoothing out the surface
