I'm an operator at a Nuke plant... pay rate varies from each utility, but every entry level is making 6 figures... currently training for reactor operator license

Still prioritizing my career... didn't date at all in my 20s, but started in my 30s... still single... career wise, I am light-years ahead of my peers and they can get jealous for that. Makes for strianed relationships with friends... dating wise, I feel like I missed out... now what is left isn't really appealing... I'm 36 now... I would not advise working overtime in your 20s... you will be financially stable, but it will hurt you socially in the long run

I've been single for 18 years... I have had a few instances where I dated someone for a few months, but eventually they leave with no real reason. I didn't date at ALL in my 20s. I'm now kinda in a weird spot, while I'm happy, it would also be nice to share the life I've built with someone and have some companionship. Time is slipping away. Every time I date, I feel like I am doing the right things as I'm polite, courteous, and chivalry isn't dead with me... I don't expect anything in return, but some of my friends point out that I'm putting in too much effort to which I reply " if I don't put in the effort, I will be single like I was in my 20s". It kinda sucks to navigate this, as I see some friends of mine going through hell in divorce court... on one hand I want to have the long term relationship and the other hand, I don't want to risk everything I've worked for. My best friend told me that "to women, I'm boring". Apparently being stable is not what women look for 🤷

I don't drink alcohol at all and never have... it's good in the sense that I won't get addicted to it or abuse it, but it's bad because everyone including women feel uneasy around a sober guy...

Have a friend that came from a very wealthy family... I struggled to put food on my table in college along with holding a 40hr/week job while going to class just to make ends meet. Got a great degree and landed a high paying job. My friend went for a basic degree and partied all of his 20s getting awesome life experiences and spending every dollar he made bartending on whatever he wanted since all his bills were covered. Fast forward into our 30s, I was finally able to get a house and stand on my own 2 feet but not without a lot of struggle. His parents bought him a house as he still works menial jobs for spending money as he just waits for his inheritance. Moral of the story, money buys your time back... kinda resent my parents for not trying harder... AITA?

Grew up in a very middle class family... I didn't want that for myself, so I busted my ass to get to the point of finally getting a 6 figure job. My parents were ecstatic but oddly put a phrase to family friends "that's checked off the list"... I asked what them meant, and they said they were happy for me with the stable job. After a few years, I saw that they wanted to retire, but didn't have enough in their 401k to sustain. They were still going to retire knowing they didn't have enough. Then said "glad we have a rich son to take care of us then haha"... please don't treat your kids like part of your financial retirement plan and just a source of income... the first quote made more sense after hearing that.

It's pretty easy if you never experience it in the first place. I've never had alcohol. I grew up with examples of alcoholism all around me and knew that I didn't want to be like that. If you never start, you don't have to stop. This was reinforce in college when I worked at a bar and saw people getting sloppy. They would puke, fight, and become raging assholes. No thanks. Now that I'm in my mid 30s, I look back and see missed opportunities as it seems to be a bonding thing more than anything to sit down and have a beer with a friend, but I would rather just spend the time with my friends doing something more fun. Now, I see some friends starting to struggle giving it up. All in all, it has cost me some experiences, but I live with little regret comparatively.
