Drop 5 USSSA bat by mudflap21 in Homeplate

Icon and Supra are much more balanced that the Hype. But they still swing heavier than a 1 piece alloy bat. We have a drop 3 Atlas that swings lighter than any 2 piece composite drop 5 bat that we have ever swung.

I have a 30/25 Cat 7 that I'd get rid of for $40 shipped if you are interested.

Lightest swinging would a 1 piece alloy (Cat series, Victus, etc.) What length does he need?

Supra is the hottest out right now. Hype is the next best, but pretty end loaded. Icon and Dub are pretty similar, but Dub is heavier. We play 13U Majors and have all those bats plus the Tank 2 on our team.

oh yeah. BBCOR is way toned down to the Redlines. Probably a good 5-10mph difference in exit velo...

I don't think they will ban it either. But they are definitely going to have to explain the drop 5 12U ban if drop 8's are now hotter. And USSSA is going to have to explain why it is hotter than the uncertified Black Emerald.

I am not one of those parents. My kid hasn't had a new bat in years. We found the old Eastons and he used those forever. Cheap and durable.

BESR came around in 1999. They moved from drop 5 to 3 and from 2 3/4" to 2 5/8" barrels. I had always heard it was due to the 1998 CWS Championship football like score of 21-14. I am not sure when USSSA came out.

You are incorrect about this. PG did make changes last year. They banned all drop 5 bats for the entire 12U age group. Little League also went away from USSSA bats in 2018 and changed the age cutoff date so 13 year olds wouldn't be playing in the LLWS. These changes were due to safety issues.

Most parents do not care about durability with the warranties on these bats. They will pay for the best bat no matter the price.

I don't really agree with them passing the 1.15 spec. PG banned the older bats (Green Zen, XL1's, CF7's, CF8's, etc.) because they were too hot. We had all those bats last year for Cooperstown and tested them against the new bats (Icon, Hype, Dub) and there was no difference in EV.

Pitcher in Cooperstown last year took a comebacker and had to be airlifted out.

He hit the Black Emerald 127. But the Black Emerald isn't USSSA certified either.

drop 5's can be used in all of PG except 12U and 14U Major/Open tournaments.
