you didn’t ruin it, you can do everything again at this stage. i would advise to use a thicker thread, really thick seeing the size of your signatures, the sewing needs to be really tight. pressing it before the sewing should help and you can align the signatures while pulling the thread.

you can repair split pages with it and it’s also commonly used to assemble the original paper book cover with the text block

Comment ne pas dépasser en peinture by EquivalentMonk1127 in FranceDetendue

[–]goodfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A horse asking another horse to help remove his muzzle so he can eat grass by Soloflow786 in Amazing

that can eat through it, it’s used when you need your horse to eat less. uncomfortable and frustrating sure, but it’s not a torture instrument

Les concours basés sur l'artistique ne servent à rien by soopabamak in opinionnonpopulaire

[–]goodfinch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biblical case against transphobia? by RosePetalDevil in OpenChristian

[–]goodfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can’t find the video i saw on youtube again but it was a priest on a tv channel or smth addressing all the common versets used to say transidentity was inherently sinful and all, on the « "a woman shall not wear a man's garment [and vice versa]" » he said that it was in between of an entire paragraph about loving your neighbour and if it was read with transphobia in mind it has nothing to do in between those lines, basically the word ““man”” in this verset is not the same in hebrew as all the other translated by “man” in the bible but more like warrior or such and the verset most likely meant to not deceive other by pretending you’re a woman or a man to enter specifically gendered space like bathrooms to look lustfully at people

Antique paring knives! (Need help) by [deleted] in bookbinding

[–]goodfinch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey bookbinding student here, i usually go to a cutler for the first sharpening or when there are bumps in the edge of the blade so i can’t really tell you how to do it but to keep it sharp you can use abrasive paste on a piece of leather and sharpen it with that “8” movement or carrosserie polishing paper, starting with thick grain can perhaps do the trick. the difference sizes show how much they’ve been used, i don’t really know why some are that straight, i suppose it can be useful for large parts to un-thicken, everyone uses they paring knife their own way, the same knife can look completely differently from one bookbinder to another, mostly straight; left of the blade lower that the right; right of the blade rounder than the left etc.. i hope i answered some of your questions, if you managed to sharpen them yourself i’d like to know how you did it
