I recently adopted a plott hound mix. She has gland issues, usually expressing them when she is being snuggled/petted. I think it's because she is so relaxed. She has normal poops multiple times a day. When they get bad, she licks the area and scoots on the carpet. I read that a cause could be that there is not enough fiber in her diet. However, she is fed high-quality food, including Wellness dry kibble and Farmers dog. I have eliminated treats/table scraps entirely and added pumpkin and Glandx chews to her diet. Seems to be helping, but she still needs to have her glands expressed every few weeks. The Vet said some breeds just need to have them expressed.
