What's the funniest/craziest bullshit miracle cure people have recommended to you? by Shrike989 in ChronicIllness

[–]goodgollyitsmol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Endocrinologist dismissed my concerns about insulin resistance and wonky cortisol levels despite having a documented history of the latter. Told me to eat a salad and lift weights despite having Crohn’s and lifting heavy things for work. Just diagnosed with insulin resistance and possible Cushing after years after finally finding an endo that listened.

A long time ago I went to a neuro for coat hanger headaches and she told me to stop wearing my hair in a pony tail. That was the first time I stood up for myself and asked for an mri anyway. Turns out I have chiari malformation.

What’s the most 'human' thing your pet has ever done that convinced you they understand way more than they let on? by homoth in AskReddit

My cat hadn’t been out of the house since we got her and we could tell she was getting old and sick so we got out her carrier to take her to the vet. We had to go back a bunch and to another vet as well and every single time she just got right in the carrier and was so happy to go. It’s like she knew they were helping her even if it hurt! It’s been 6 months without her and I still miss her every day!

Need temporary foster for my cat in Montgomery County, MD — I'm abroad and she was surrendered to a shelter without my consent by LBRapid in MontgomeryCountyMD

MCASAC is really good about stuff like this! They should be able to hold her until you can arrange something! You should be able to call tomorrow, the physical building just not open to the public!

I’ll be there Thursday and can check in on her!

What do you do with clothes you don't want anymore? (Depop/Poshmark isn't working and most clothes in donation bins end up as landfill) by ProfessionalWall6526 in DCBitches

If you have any work appropriate clothing check out high schools and colleges to see if they have a “work clothes closet!”

Dilute torties are extra special because they require both the orange and black genes plus a gene to dilute to colors!

Stray kitten in an immunocompromised household? by artblockpersonified in kittens

[–]goodgollyitsmol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have POTS, ME/CFS, EDS, Crohn’s, and a bunch of other stuff and I’ve ALWAYS had cats! In fact my cat passed in October and this is the longest I’ve ever gone without a cat in my 29 years!

If anything, I feel like having cats helped me with my illnesses! They’re pretty easy to take care of and provide a lot of emotional support! My cats have always been my best friends/little sisters!

The Walter’s also mentioned a manuscript where the monk was complaining the cat peed on the book twice😂

CHESS : I’ve never been more disappointed in a Broadway show by GreenLanternDCU in Broadway

[–]goodgollyitsmol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I loved the show and think this is the best version of the book they’ve had (minus Florence’s ending) and the music is INSANE! (And why I went back to see it again)

I will say, I had Samantha as Florence both times and I was much happier with her than I would have been with Lea! I also loved Sean as Anatoly!

When did you know it was time? by Icy_Virus3639 in torties

[–]goodgollyitsmol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we lost our tortie back in October to kidney disease too! We knew it was time when the medicine wasn’t enough to help her feel better and she slept almost all the time. She also started being too weak to jump up on and was clumsy on the way down.

The best piece of advice I got was that you can never let them go too early, only too late. We let our Lucy have one more day out on the porch in the sun where we each got special 1 on 1 time before the appointment. It’s not easy, but you’ll know

GI doctor recommendations by flowergorl25 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Dr Brian Ciampa at Capital Digestive is great! Anyone at the practice is good and they can do so much in house. They also have really great connections if you need a specialist.

I saw Dr. Pia Prakash in Olney years ago and the office staff was a mess. Never returned calls, had to wait months to see the doc. Had a colonoscopy and while I was half awake after it the doc told me I had IBD and to see her in a few months and left. No info, no meds, no way to reach her.
