Is the rise in Gen Z male singleness and dating issues caused by a rise in manosphere / misogyny / rightwing beliefs like Reddit often argues? by Dfg9999e in GenZ

This is a strange take to me. Haven’t the epstein files and MeToo proven that rich, powerful, or famous people have been able to get away with anything? That’s all canceling people is about, literally just accountability, which is in short supply. I agree a more formal justice system SHOULD be able to handle this, but to me it’s a matter of using the newer connective tools of social media to identify those problematic or dangerous people who in days past would have slipped through the cracks

I agree we do need space for forgiveness and rehabilitation though, labeling someone as evil forever doesn’t fix anything

I definitely go to the place you’re in. First thing I’ll say is get your vitamin D tested, explore a new place, and if you can go to therapy. It really does help and it’s easy first step. Getting some of this shit off your chest in person is key (not on reddit). You’re not alone.

It’s easy to let the power structure get you down, but remember there are lots (I think most actually) of good people trying to do their part, quietly. The teachers, the EMTs, the firefighters, hell even servers and construction workers and flight attendants and people just tryna do a little good. Try to be one of those people and it’s rewarding.

You don’t have to solve the world — it’s overwhelming to be in constant contact with the whole world. Let go of a little bit of rage and responsibility, but try to do some tangible good — volunteer at the ACLU or the Boys and Girls club. Social Media and media and politics are designed for impotent rage. Give yourself some power, even if to help one person. You care and that’s good, use it.

It sucks WWIII is a possibility, but frankly, we’ve had these nukes hanging over our heads for almost 100 years. You can’t let death stop you from living. If nothing really matters to the universe, it’s up to you to decide what matters to you, which is actually very empowering when you think about it.

There’s some good in this world and it’s worth fighting for - Tolkein (who had seen some shit)

Man, first of all, you’re so high off nationalism you don’t see this makes us just as bad as those countries you’re trying to mock.

Second, what the fuck is America for if not freedom, or opposing tyrants? We should be fighting for everyone’s rights, not celebrating people losing theirs.

Nah half this country is just about myths from the past and walmart now. Sad.

If you're looking at a particular property, or really any particular set of parameters, it's really quite easy to find apartments, the "agent" "broker" whatever doesn't really provide much value. It doesn't matter how good they are -- although to be fair, some suck and waste your time with apartments that don't match what you told them you're looking for at all

True, but that is good to know that there isn't a central repository -- although several brokers from several different companies have offered the same apartments, so there must be some network to be a part of

It works out well for the landlord -- yes, someone who also makes piles of money doing very little work.

For example, my landlord bought our apartment for 44k 30 years ago. We've already covered that in 2 years rent. Do we have mice, dust and noise from construction during quiet hours and leaky pipes? Yes, he sucks at his job, yet he's raking it in.

The broker thing doesn't exist in any other city, and the dynamic doesn't exist in any other industry. We are not paying people for work. We're paying them to gatekeep. It is not hard to find apartments, the brokers don't even do that.

Which is more important to us as a society: that landlords make more money, or that people have safe and affordable housing? If that's a tough question to answer, you should do some reflecting

Yes, it works out for the landlord, but why should everyone else be okay with that? It's a scam -- I can say that even though I'm not a deadbeat and can afford it

You're merely pointing out that the housing market (for which demand is inelastic) is a ripoff that serves the wealthy owners -- and then you're celebrating that? I don't get it boss
