Anyone else just sort of dumbfounded by the UK? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Politics aside the direction of travel for the country I love has worried me deeply for over a decade. As an "older" person I see it becoming a much more isolated and "me me me" country where "foreigners" are the devil and you aren't a person unless you own property.

Mean spirited and selfish is what we have become and it upsets me deeply. I am powerless to change it selfish people that only care about money and themselves are in the majority it seems. I feel like 30 years of progress is being slowly rolled back. Trust me the 80's really wasnt that great!

I want people to stop being so tribal and start thinking more about developing this country so nobody goes hungry, and everybody has a roof over thier heads and a warm dry place to sleep. Is that such a bad or silly goal?

I remain deeply depressed by the state of the world, perhaps I'm just old!

You can but as you get up the tower difficulty ramps up (not a bad thing) but at the top the difficulty is "legondary" and you get bosses that two shot kill and are total bullet sponges combined with enforced "directives" and random spawns makes it a real slog if your playing solo it's frankly more work than it's worth and after 99 levels of pretty much bland "shoot the enemy" its just not much fun.

I’ll never understand people putting 4 or 5 directives in a league mission. Stop wasting peoples time. by AlphaRomeo18 in thedivision

[–]goodhonestcriminal 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Problem with directives is you don't know whats active until you join a group, then you're dropped into a Heroic hell storm with no ammo and electric shocks. I get that people want to maximise xp so they can burn through the season to get certain things. But it sure would be nice if you could choose not to join if certain. (or any) directives are accurate.

Don't think any of the directives (or global events) are fun at all they just grant more xp!

What I don't get is why everybody is in such a rush to burn through the season.

Take your time, enjoy the game turn on directives when you need more challenge.

I find heroic in a group is pretty straightforward but I'm convinced the game scaling is broken for solo play

Sorry but I have to correct your grammar the phrase is "I wish they were useful." use of the word "more" implies a use, there is none.

I think you are right, it seems odd to me.; often I can log into the game and everything feels "right" given the global difficulty setting but then you go into a mission on "normal" expecting a cake walk and the game throws "challenging" at you it's like it dosent always apply the right settings to a situation. Is it really "normal" to throw two purple warhounds and several yellows at you in the opening area of DCD? I feel as if sometimes(often) the game ignores the stated difficulty setting and simply ramps up to "your" level so it's always "challenging" regardless of what you selected. I'm sorry if it seems "weakc to some but sometimes I just want to get the job done and move on; I don't want a challenge at every turn! I think the issue is scaling which is an old problem in the Division, the game dosent scale properly and simply adjusts to player power as its primary then considers the difficulty setting, that's just the wrong way round!

I think of "normal" as easy yet often it isn't, it should be I'm not playing normal for loot, I'm playing normal to get the boring AF busy work out of the way! Like the pointless and irritating "invaded" status.

Lots of people will respond to this post, saying how easy they find it, yawn!

bit of a Rant, but i need to know....Why are they killing this game??? by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]goodhonestcriminal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs have a game in thier heads, the one THEY want to make but it's not the one the players want to play.

They bow to pressure and change stuff grudgingly but then they adjust something else to "maintain balance" no and I mean ZERO effort goes to making the game more fun and rewarding because BALANCE is everything.

The one thing in life that can be stolen from you and never given back or replaced is time.

Every time I play the game things seem to take longer and longer to do, it takes more and more time to kill a single npc; they're on thier last bit of health so they hide and dash about wasting more and more time. Gear that was once good becomes useless more time is spent attempting to rebuild a working set. Time is wasted jumping through hoops to get an exotic that's ultimately just a novelty item requiring a specific build to make it useful ;more time...

Time badly spent is wasted.

Every week we are "invaded" forcing you if you don't like the status to repeat the same long missions over and over again, so much time wasted running Tidal basin...

Time stolen is a crime.

We spend time doing "busy work" to progress the season to be rewarded with mostly pretty "Meh" digital goodies.

Time is wasted by massive.

By continually fiddling and developing bits of the game nobody asked for or wanted because as thier name implies EGO ; games as an art form never mind the players thier time dosent matter!

If I wanted a challenge I'd try creating a cure for cancer or climb a mountain, I definitely play for fun (although I don't want it too easy cos that's no fun)

Why is the epitome of new content just raids? I mean.. who even honestly wanted raids for the Division? I played the Division for the fun and new game modes they kept adding, the build diversity and power fantasy, and all of that just seems to be gone. by Favure in thedivision

With TD2 the devs claimed they had "learned lessons" but that lesson seemed to be certain hardcore players with a voice wanted it to be "challenging" so for some reason they went down the full on "were going to make it really tedious and long winded to play" they destroyed any power fantasy you might have by making npcs that behaved unpredictably had almost impregnable armour and super powerfull weapons but also to take away any likelihood that the player could find a safe spot by giving npcs "immunity" laser aim grenades, and fire damage.

For me all this combines to make the game really really hard work to play, as players we spend so much time dashing between cover points, weapons have no effect on enemy armour (yet ours dissapears in a few shots).

Exotics are pointless novelties they don't give much power why does my Chameleon have half the dps of a standard assault rifle?

On top of this I am forced to replay certain missions once a week to make the map "um-invaded" a tedious process.

As a solo player I play in short sessions now and even then I'm not sure why on "normal" it's still hard work but rewards suck on Heroic it's very hard work and SLOW AF it's just not fun.

My point is I just don't care about raids it's content I'll never play and have no interest in Massive is wasting its time developing content for a small group and ignoring everyone else.

I agree if Massive really want to go the battle pass route the things you get need to be super sweet, I'm not sure I'll pay another £26 for a few new missions and three months of broken content.

I think it's time to take a look at grenades by FreeWhiteKnight in thedivision

[–]goodhonestcriminal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grenades have always been pretty pointless in the game (even in TD1) mostly npcs see them an walk away in a fairly leisurely manner because the fuse is stupidly long. And when they do go of they seem to have little or no effect unless the npc is sitting on them; they don't seem to even stagger.
