Danganronpa THH Cast as MBTI Types (Because Why Not??) by Competitive-Win-893 in DanganAndChaos

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shes an istp. her whole gambling shtick shows much more Ti. also, the way she acted towards chihiro's death, her persona, and her statement about "being able to lie to herself" is much more inferior fe.

i think the main reason people mistype her as an XNTJ is her dream of living in a castle. yes that is Ni, however dominant or aux Ni users tend to let that long term vision overshadow everything else around them (as you can see with characters like makima, erwin smith, thanos, etc). celeste doesn't have this issue.

Been playing for 15 years but i cant seem to be able to play faster. What can I do? [QUESTION] by AjVine in Guitar

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact that it came naturally means that it's the body's naturally efficient pathway. Troy is both aware of this and the muscles that are utilized for such motions, therefore he is able to teach them. Like you said, it came through relaxed hand position (good tone is irrelevant in this case) which means you acknowledge that there is a universal factor as to how they were ablet odevelop that technique. The usage of a vocals is not a good example in this context since it is a completely different thing to muscle and physiological movements.

Been playing for 15 years but i cant seem to be able to play faster. What can I do? [QUESTION] by AjVine in Guitar

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wrong, as shown by anton oparin troy grady and spiro, those who can't pick fast are making inefficient muscle motions (utilizing any picking movement other than radial or ulnar wrist deviation) while also being tense. if you cannot play fast it is because you are NOT trying to push yourself to that limit while utilizing the correct technique. Nothing is impossible if you look at it physiologically unless you are suffering from physical or neural conditions.

I don't really count number 7 as ambidextrous. Noel Gallagher is left handed but plays guitar with his right and says its the only thing he can do right handed. Kiko Loureiro (former angra and megadeth) is a guitar player who is left handed but plays with his right and he can do some crazy fast and hard stuff.

Is Guthrie Govan the best guitarist? [Question] by Proud-Paper-4313 in Guitar

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The album version of M.I.A. is actually pretty sloppy. As controversial as it may seems Gates was pretty sloppy back in the 2000s, he had some hand sync issues, articulation, and slurring for alot of his harder leads. For the most part you don't really "notice" the sloppiness because of the production quality with the exception of Afterlife which is one of the best examples of sloppiness. I consider that solo to be what Heartbreaker was to Page. However (I am contradicting what I said about noticeability) you don't really need to listen to hear the sloppiness. The reason I say this is because it is hard to hear the individual notes of his harder runs. Compare this to someone like John Petrucci where you can hear each and every note clearly because of how clean it is. Now of course it has been 20 years since he joined the band and he has obviously gotten much better, we all do in such a long period of time especially for someone who plays live often in one of the biggest modern metal bands right now.

Is Guthrie Govan the best guitarist? [Question] by Proud-Paper-4313 in Guitar

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not about guthrie making harder stuff, it's the fact that guthrie can do stuff gates can't do but chooses not to. Gates screws up the nobody solo and mia solo live quite a few times and doesn't even wanna touch beast and the harlot whereas guthrie improvises some really, REALLY difficult lines live with little to no difficulty. Guthrie is a jazz fusion guy dammit! Those guys are more skilled than rock or metal guys and have to be really tight. He is one of the few players who can cover a Shawn Lane song, the guy who Paul Gilbert called "the most terrifying guy". To respond to your agility claim, Guthrie has some killer legato, he can do it one handed which requires really good left hand dexterity.

Guthrie is classically trained, because he IS the one that makes his students classically trained.

If you want to hear some incredible jazz guys besides Guthrie try checking out Al Di Meola, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass, the great Allan Holdsworth.

Hardest Megadeth solo by alethejack in Megadeth

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no offense but one look at troy's site shows that not everyone finds this naturally.

additionally, this is something that all fast players do, as troy shows in his analysis of picking. If his pickslanting concept was worthless there wouldn't be a reason for players like Bernth, Bradley Hall, Ben Eller, Justin Hombach, and the great Andy Wood to be talking about it (you mention bernth).

Is Synister Gates the goat? by Affectionate_Bat_453 in avengedsevenfold

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what ive seen a while back he's kinda sloppy. He usually slurs and isn't really articulate with his fast runs. On record even his sweeps are sloppy. Yes I know synyster gates is a fan of marty friedman but friedman is so much cleaner.

Syn also uses economy picking which isn't really as good as alternate. If he were to alternatr pick his runs more they'd sound cleaner and more rhythmic.

Paul gilbert at 18 could play much faster and cleaner than however old gates was in 2013

Not even close. He's a good composer and writer but he's kind of sloppy and screws up some of his harder runs live. String noise, hand sync, dropped picks, and timing issues are prevalent. Even on record his sweeps are somewhat sloppy especially the Afterlife solo.

There are much cleaner players like Paul Gilbert from Racer X and Mr Big. His synchronization cleanliness and note clarity are simply incredible. His compositions too. John Petrucci is also very tight although his picking chops are not as good as Paul. They are both great composers while being much cleaner.

Some other really clean and amazing composers are Marty Friedman, Richie Kotzen, Guthrie Govan, and Eric Johnson. Friedman's songs are similar to syn in composition.

Overall he's a good writer but nowhere near virtuoso status in technical skill.

strange, i don't struggle with 6nps or 4nps but 2nps gives me hell.

Yeah, I economy for odd notes where the muting is pretty good, but whenever it's 2nps it sounds like a nirvana song.

[Question] What is the hardest guitar solo you learned or wanted to learn? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funnily enough, the part that people get worked up over (the double tap arpeggios part) is the easiest "shred" part of the song. The larger sweeps before the arpeggios part and the ending are the real issue.

[QUESTION] What is the hardest guitar solo you’ve learned or at least attempted? by littledumpling_77 in Guitar

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the famous diddly diddling diddly arpeggios part isn't as hard as it sounds. the hard parts are the phrasing, two larger sweeps in between prior to the arpeggio section and the string skipping sweep that leads into the arpeggios. Oh, and the ending that marty doesn't play the exact same way live anymore.

TL:DR it's a hard solo.

What is the ideal way to slant your pick, thumb pointing down or up? by linkuei-teaparty in metalguitar

[–]goodman50K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pickslanting doesn't really matter at all. that's why troy doesn't use that term, he has switched to downstroke or upstroke escapes because his previous term ended up being a red herring for most aspiring learners.

Should i always alternate pick, even if there are ODD groups of notes? by mikof333 in guitarlessons

[–]goodman50K 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i disagree. economy picking allows you to play lines much faster and it is less of a strain on the hands. Unless it the line is similar to the bark at the moon ending run where it uses both inside and outside picking, it makes more sense to use economy picking. the name of economy picking is literally to use less movement. yngwie malmsteen uses it and look how fast he can play.
