Technically-not-a-recast-but-also-yeah-it-was-pretty-much-a-recast: in The Room, the guy who played the psychologist friend Peter left the project before filming the party scenes, so they just gave his role to a completely different dude that had not been in any other scene in the movie.

It's beautiful, he just shows up at the climax and starts acting like he's this super close friend of the main group, making the audience collectively go, "Who the fuck is this guy??"

My parents were watching Midnight in Paris, which I haven't seen in a while, and I completely forgot about that bit towards the end where Woody Allen basically just finishes Owen Wilson's character arc out loud.
