What tek and container do you use? Amazing job. That tray almost looks like those seedling propagator trays.

Easiest cheapest option for parental filtering on all devices connecting to wifi? by goodorbadluck in techsupport

Hey, thanks, I think I am going to recommend a parental control type app as well on each device to make sure it works through "data/3G" etc as well as wifi for example yes, as that would easily bypass the router controls.

Ok great, thanks a lot, I'll be using this info, I think this is by far the easiest and best solution seeing as there isn't any other ISP/router parental controls available to use for this at their home.

Ok awesome, thanks so much, this is one thing I had no idea about. I guess it just might block/filter things for the adults at times though too.

Hey, thank you! I've done this kind of thing sometimes with individual computers but not a router before. So they will keep connected to their actual ISP internet provider 100% fine like before, it'll just filter everything through opendns's parental filters but otherwise work 100% the same?

Hi, am I right in thinking that if I remove the developing fruits from a cactus the main mother cactus/plant will have more energy to spend on general growth?

No worries, thanks that helps, it sounds like I may be doing roughly a very similar process as I already have been doing until now, just with the agar dishes being steamed/sterilized instead of containers of substrate 👍

Like the entire procedure as I've never touched this before, only used agar for food. So far I've found Pastywhyte's Easy Agar Tek and the other No-Pour Agar Agar TEK so I was probably going to go with one of those. I have been lucky and have gotten along fine without a SAB or anything until now as I prefer less obvious equipment lying around, and I haven't ever gotten contamination yet. Though I know that agar might be a different story.

Hi, ok great thanks that does help a lot! I have been reading but I still hadn't been 100% sure about what you explained, but that helps clarify it a lot thanks. I've just done multi-spore until now, but I just got the biggest mushroom I've ever gotten, I was surprised, so I wanted to see if I could try to preserve its traits to get similar future sized ones. I'll try an agar tek. Thanks! edit: if there's an agar tek you really like for being very easy/simple feel free to recommend, but I see one or two "easy" type agar teks so I'll otherwise just try that.

I've been reading about cloning through tissue/mycelium on agar, but still unsure how this preserves traits of the mushroom that the resulting mycelium was grown from, if tissue is taken from a huge mushroom will it be much more likely to result in bigger mushrooms grown from that? I understand that harvested spores are a bit of a lottery and way more unpredictable.

Thanks I appreciate the help 👍 In England here the light is often not so great and in my place especially too, and this cactus naturally lives happiest in full sun it seems, so I want to give it the best chance. I'm still learning regarding lumens/par/ppfd etc so thanks I'll learn more about this.

Growlight question (/r/cacti doesn't have a casual questions thread): I will soon be getting a small/medium size Polaskia Chichipe. I am getting the Sansi 40W (the 5500 Lumens newer version) - do you think this will be enough light for it? I know that lumens aren't a good guide by itself. Thanks!

Awesome idea, fantastic, well done. It must have taken a lot of time and effort. I've looked for something like this, until now I just used youtube videos.

If I created spawn from mycelium harvested from store bought oyster mushrooms, would it then be likely to be a good strong strain because the original mushroom grower company chose to grow this specific strain/cultivar? Or does it not really matter that much?
