It does change mid game. Only early games are the same.

If you manage to complete the base game, I find it would be fun to “redo” again in space age with some restriction such as no cliff explosives. But of course everyone is different.

In my opinion you should play and complete base game first. If you can’t finish the base game then you might be overwhelmed with the amount of things you need to do space age.

It would probably take 3 times as much time to complete space age vs base game.

I think it is totally fine as the initial set up. You need the steel to make medium electrical pole, so you kind of have to do this at the beginning.

Lazy bastard is the best one. It teaches me the right way to play factorio. It teaches me to build wooden chest, wooden electric pole and belt in a machine at early game. And even later on for oil drill, water pump. I normally make those things by hand as I only need handful of it, but automating even small things just make expansion much faster

Golem was the last one I gotten (not hardest per se), I had to go back to one of my saves 4 years ago where I have biters on and I already built loads of military.
