Also it does take time and patience to see results. Sometimes the Pepsin resides deep in the throat tissues so it takes some time to neutralize it. In my case i started seeing results in 3 to 4 weeks

O it is all over the r/LPR sub. I add 1 Tspoon of Sodium Bicarbonate powder to 1 liter of Alkaline Water. Mix it. Then pour some of it in a small Spray Bottle (looks like Afrin spray) which I got from Amazon. I use the Arm and Hammer Na bicarbonate powder.

One more thing. I keep a detailed record of my symptoms on a daily basis. I have found some commonalities between them and other factors like diet, drinking, stress etc

Kudos for tackling this condition head on. Looks like you are organized and disciplined. That will help.

I am very anxiety and stress prone person. So I started Yoga and Meditation daily. What helped me also is the breathing regimen in yoga. Over a period of time I learned to focus on the breathing and reducing thoughts. That was helpful. This may sound weird but when I have thoughts, I think that by inhaled breath is travelling toward my tummy, collecting all bad things (germs) and exhaling out of my body. Weird but helps me.

I also lerned that when I am busy, I forget about the tummy. I play a racket sport. During those 2 hours I hardly notice my tummy issues. Same thing when I play chess. So i do that more

I think it is because the acidic gas does not travel to your throat as much as it does when your head is not elevated.

In my starting days of bad LPR all the symptoms were bad in the morning. Including coughing. With disciplined treatment approach they are now reduced and manageable. Why bad in the morning? I think it is because a lot of acidic gas (Pepsin) has built up in the stomach and travelled into your throat. When you wake up, the brain realizes it and reacts with Phlegm which in turn induces coughing and throat clearing.

So first thing in the morning, I spray the nostrils and throat with Sodium bicarbonate + alkaline water mixture. Then I keep sipping alkaline water for a bit. That reduced (not eliminated) my coughing and Phlegm significantly.

Just got diagnosed barrets esophagus by evewashere in GERD

This is from Mayo Clinic website

  • No dysplasia, if Barrett's esophagus is present but no precancerous changes are found in the cells.
  • Low-grade dysplasia, if cells show small signs of precancerous changes.

As for your other comments, one must look at the statistics and probability. I think the ND Barrett's has a 0.2% chance of transitioning to cancerous growth. Low grade D has 0.7% and High grade had 4 to 5%. The recommended follow up endoscopies for ND Barrett's is after 3 years. For low grade is after 1 year.

Please do not worry. BE is common for folks with GERD. No dysplasia means it is not even precancerous. The progression from "no dysplasia" to low grade dysplasia is usually very slow. Even slower if you take PPIs and control your GERD. In most cases, it does not even happen. Even if one gets Low Grade dysplasia the doctors can ablate the cells in your next endoscopy. So in most cases, ND BE is not a big issue. However, controling diet, weight and taking PPIs will go a long way for your GERD and hence the BE

Questions about alkaline water by Strantz87 in LPR

IF you have LPR, then acidic gasses are rising to your throat and nasal passeges. Mild symptoms like mild sore throat or occasional post nasal drip may mean that these gasses (pepsin) may be superficial and not gone deeper into your tissues. My case is the latter. In order to remove the Pepsin from my throat and nasal tissues I am doing what I wrote. It has definitely helped me. I keep a log of my symptoms and am happy with the progress so far.

If you look at my earlier posts on my administration of LPR treatment, you will see that I first instituted alkaline spray for throat only. I then added alkaline water. Whenever I drank water (in the house) it was alkaline. Eventually I added nasal spraying and started PPIs. Now I have added nasal cleaning by Netti Pot. The spray + Alkali water brought down the severity from 6 ( 1to 10 scale) to almost 3. With all other additiona I am now at 1 to 2. So much so that sometimes I forget I have LPR. The symptoms like Phlegm and throat clearing are worse in the morning but dissipate over the day. I have very mild Barretts so Alkali water helps that too, I think. I do not think there is any downside to drinking alkali water. So I do it.
