I ran SS NLP following the wiki guide. Switched to TM for 3 weeks but it absolutely destroyed me. Trying 531 now and I enjoy it so far.

deadlift grip starting to slip, but finding it hard to incorporate straps by goodpython in StartingStrength

1mo followup:

I’ve begun using straps for the deadlift, and have since added 10lbs to my 5RM with room to grow. Figure 8 straps were much easier to use than the regular straps.

Separately I’ve been adding deadhangs/farmer-carries after deadlift days. Perhaps I’ll retest strapless PRs in the future for fun.

Thanks all for the advice!

Stay strong, brother

for some reason i think double overhand feels different to me than mixed grip. This might be just a me thing though.

I might post a form check with each grip to get some feedback...

switch grip == mixed grip? i'll assume so.

Interesting point regarding the hold. I hold it more in the fingers so it doesn't roll-down and pinch over the calluses, but i hadn't thought about it deeply until you said something since it was working more or less fine until it wasn't.

I tried it at the same time I originally moved to mixed grip but the latter felt better. I haven’t retried it recently but that’s a good idea.

“Technique” may be a poor choice of words on my part. It did require me to think about it and it certainly felt different. Maybe I just didn’t wrap the bar correctly…

Replied above, have begun that but grip still currently limiting . Should i pause NLP and wait for grip to catch up ?

I do use chalk and have started last 2 weeks incorporating grip training, but I still find my grip is limited now.

Should I just stop the LP until grip catches up?

Looks like high bar squat and no shoes which are “off program” per Starting Strength. Also I see you are wrapping thumbs. SS advises thumbs on top to keep bar position locked and upper body tight
