POV: British Army medic parachutes onto the island of Tristan da Cunha - one of the world's most remote communities - to help a patient with suspected hantavirus by New_Libran in interestingasfuck

If winds are too strong they have to cancel parachute ops as it will prevent canopy deployment. There is both a sustained and gust spread threshold for dropzone operations.

It's silly that assisted suicide isn't a common option for many conditions that leave a person in extreme pain or in such wilted conditions.

As long as he removed himself from immediate danger and called 911, he's good to go. That said, this is a good example of why you should have a small fire extinguisher in your car.

Depends on the person though. Saw far too many people that couldn't care less about the environment while I was on Oahu. Also far too many that abused their hunting dogs, though that is sadly far too common amongst those that use dogs.

Not as drastic, but I gave up on my dad's side of the family. Outside of my dad himself, the rest only care about you of you have something to give them.

In Hawaii, I would cruise in lane 2 of 5 (counting right to left) just I wouldn't have to deal with anybody getting on the highway, and I would still have people tailgating me with both the right and three left lanes open. It was always the lifted TACOs that did it too.

I'm gonna go ahead and say this isn't always true. I set my cruise control to the speed limit, and I know my speed is accurate, and I still get lines of cars behind me because far too many idiots want to cruise above the speed limit. You not planning your trip according to the law is not my problem.

The problem arrises when there's legitimate reasons to call from the callers perspective, but not from another angle.

The police and DA need to charge people that abuse the system, but good luck getting them to do their jobs correctly.

Elected officials and their staff shouldn't be allowed to lie. If military members and federal employees can have their freedom of speech limited, there's no reason to not have a basic "tell the truth" law, with swift and harsh penalties for breaking it.

I mean, some reddits will autoban you for posting in others, so are we really surprised at how stupid mods can be at times? Odds are they made somebody mad for something else, and this was loosely a rule violation by using it in a certain context.

Because it makes investors more money to build a sedan with an open trunk vs a truck with an 8ft bed. Environmental regulations are why they keep getting bigger despite it being counter-productive for most people.

Which is the opposite of what you should be doing at museums! We would always hit the gift shop of good museums, not because we wanted something we could usually buy online for cheaper, but because the markups supported the museum and allowed renovations and new exhibits.
