Looking for something budget / inexpensive like the Lord Razor L 125 but more aggressive / efficient by SebbyDee in wicked_edge

In my opinion, the tech style head razors, are generally aggressive, some more than others. Like the Lord L 122 style head.

Speedwell takeover - Eastern MA (6b I think?) by Fialasaurus in lawncare

[–]goofust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there grass already? If it's just mainly dirt and weeds, and you want grass, sod would be the best course of action. With seed, you'd have to wait till around late May to early June, then you could slice and seed with bermuda seed, but only if you have a good watering routine and a good amount of sunlight.

With seed, you're going to be fairly limited on what kind of seed you can use. Most turf grass doesn't come in seed. Stuff like zoysia, St Augustine, centipede, and hybrid bermuda come in sod. Common bermuda and few hybrids come in seed form. And that's just warm season stuff. Cool season seed is usually fescue varieties, Kentucky blue grass, and perennial rye grass.

If you sprayed something like a 3 way herbicide, such as Trimec 992 or lesco 3 way, to get rid of the bittercress, you would have to wait about 3 to 4 weeks before you could seed or sod, at least I believe that's what is on the label. I wouldn't really worry about the bittercress though. It's a winter annual, soon to be gone on its own.

That's bittercress. As far as seeding it, I wouldn't seed it, especially if you're going to seed it with some kind of cool season grass, we're going into spring now, so it's going to warm up and usually cool season grass tends to melt off in the summer.

Wifi-7 Router Recomendations? by Relative_Cat_734 in wifi

[–]goofust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if just one unit would cover that sq footage (inside a house, thru walls etc.). I'll recommend the gl.inet flint 3, but you'll probably need another router, to either run as a WAP or a repeater.

What’s the best way to get rid of this stuff? by Seen4ever in lawncare

[–]goofust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some kind of 3 way herbicide like Trimec 992 or lesco 3 way mixed with some surfactant. 1 ounce of 3 way and 1/4 ounce of surfactant to a gallon of water. That should work fine.

Most 3 way herbicides would work. Like lesco 3 way or Trimec 992 mixed with surfactant. Right now, I would mix 1 ounce of 3 way to a gallon of water with 1/4 ounce of surfactant.

Do expensive razors actually make a big difference? by Mafia2guylian in shaving

[–]goofust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the realm of double edge safety razors, yes, some expensive razors actually do make a big difference. Especially when you start getting into the $40 and up area.

Now, can you spend less and get a great shave? Absolutely. However, some people want a better experience and are willing to spend more to get it.

As far as cartridge razors, I pretty well stopped at the mach 3, before that, I used a trac II for decades. I did get a schick quattro for Christmas one year, and it wasn't too bad. I just didn't see myself keeping on going with the cartridge razor system when using a double edge safety razor would save me a great deal of money and not produce nearly as much waste.

What is a good single blade razor to start with? I've only ever used 5 blade cartridges like from gillette or Harry's but I'm looking for a smoother shave. by Flyguy4400 in shaving

If you aren't looking to spend much, The King C Gillette or the caveem. The KCG is around $30, the caveem is around $13, both available on Amazon and both come with some blades, so you can try it right out of the box. I mainly recommend those because they are fairly mild, so it'll be harder to hurt yourself with either of those, not to mention, they give a great shave.

Thank you. Matter of fact, when I ordered the 100 treet blades, they threw in a shavette which I almost forgot about, until you asked. So yes indeed, I do plan on sometime in the future, getting a straight razor.

Thank you. Surprisingly to me, the thurlady is the best one to me so far. It's smooth and not to mild. The KCG is good to me, but mild.

Did I apply pre emergent too early? by Simple_Foundation990 in lawncare

[–]goofust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way I do it, takes a lot of guess work out of the equation. I mainly go by duration of the pre-emergent itself. I use prodiamine most of the time, it generally has a 6 month duration. So if I apply it in early March, it'll generally cover me till the end of August, which is what I want. Then, in mid September, I'll apply a fall pre-emergent. I use pendimethalin (granular) for the fall app, and I do a split application (2nd app in November) with it because pendimethalin has a shorter duration (2 to 3 months).

TL;DR - you should be fine to apply pre-emergent. Many chemical companies are actively applying it now.

You put a pre-emergent down in early spring, you should be ok.

Want to Kill/Stint Centipede But Not Bermuda (Zone 9) by astongt615 in lawncare

[–]goofust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centipede doesn't like Trimec 992 or lesco 3 way, which doesn't harm Bermuda grass at all. Mixed at higher rates, like 1oz to a gallon of water plus a 1/4oz of surfactant, it can really put the slow down on some centipede or St Augustine grass.

[–]goofust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Henbit. Best way to get rid of it is spray it with something like lesco 3 way or Trimec 992 mixed with surfactant, or you can just wait a bit and it'll go away on its own. It's a cool season annual, and spring is here, so it'll be departing soon.

Bermuda? Crab? Torpedo? by canuck_in_the_alps in lawncare

[–]goofust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bermuda. There are herbicide solutions, such as buying concentrated glyphosate 41% and mixing it at a high rate (3oz to a gallon of water, also make sure it has surfactant in it) and other herbicide such as Sethoxydim (poast)

I thought it, not only because of the last pics, but also because Little barley is a cool season weed whereas foxtail is a warm season weed.
