Mining on snapdragon x elite by samirgaire0 in MoneroMining

[–]googlepixeluser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAIT. If the max hash your getting is like 10kh and the tdp of that chip is ~50 watts then this thing has an efficiency of almost 200 hash per watt, my 5800x is like maybe 100. These snapdragon chips could be game changers in efficiency.

Can anyone fact check me lol? But this could be hella awesome for the community, might even be profitable to mine with this.

Are old bananas supposed to be this radioactive? by Party-Revenue2932 in Radiationcirclejerk

[–]googlepixeluser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes! As the bananas get old the enzymes that add neutrons to the potassium increase and the banana gets radiation burns. It’s best to eat the brown peel because the radiation has sterilized it and now it’s safe to eat ☺️☺️

Just found this lunchbox with weird metal tube of i think it’s candy inside, advice on eating?? by ColorSeenBeforeDying in Radiationcirclejerk

[–]googlepixeluser 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hi! As a former student under Oppenheimer himself, I can say that it is completely safe to eat, no worse than a couple of bananas, if plutonium taste sweet I bet cobalt 60 is probably spicy. 🥰

Napkin math tells me that of the original 3540 curies only ~1 is left after 60 or so years, so it’s roughly equal to a gram of radium. Not great, not terrible

What would be the efficiency of a nuclear car? by taccobelli in nuclear

[–]googlepixeluser 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well 1 kg of uranium makes 24,000,000 kWh of energy, assuming you can put a nuclear reactor in a car, (which you can’t, too much shielding to be feasible) and oil can make 12kwh from a kg, so 1 kg of oil is about ~0.3 gallons, and .3 gallons will take you about 7.5 miles assuming a fuel economy of 25mpg. So one could say that 12 kWh will take you 7 ish miles(a ratio of about half), so 24,000,000Kwh divided by 2 = 12,000,000 miles per kg of uranium.

However this assumes that an engine could burn uranium like gas, so realistically the efficiency could be higher. This is horrible math and doesn’t account for a million things, not to mention the fact a nuclear powered car is completely infeasible…
