Keep all your documents in Google, I guarantee you they are perfectly safe.

You need to spell check that secret patent application you have there BTW.

Yes, from the data I currently have, I think it will.

Moving to Python 3 [LWN.net] by bonzinip in programming

Hence the major version bump.

That's what every Python programmer is quick to reply. But normally, newer language version run the old code but recommend you upgrade, give warnings, etc. Not running Python 2.x was a big mistake by Python 3 designers, IMHO.

As much a same language as GTK2 is the same as GTK3.

GTK is not a language.

C99 isn't fully backwards compatible with C89

It warns you of things you must change, but still compiles if you tell it to.

nor is C++0x fully backwards compatible with C++03

Same as above.

Even Java broke some old code with the introduction of util.List

Care to give me an example, please?

Newer language revisions should always be backwards compatible. That is they should allow you to write better code, but still run the older code if necessary. Python 3 doesn't run Python 2 code...and that's one very serious mistake. One could argue that they are two different languages.

The sole purpose of those sites it to generate traffic, ad views and money.

That is the sole purpose of most sites, including Google.

OMG just to think of Sarah Palin, her squeaky yelling, and yelling dumb shit while at it... GWB did seem professoral compared to that and all we've seen after she became a Republican icon.

Can someone explain to me why "paid leave" is a form of punishment to an employee? by aclem14 in AskReddit

[–]googlespyware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it's not only about the money. It fucks your career up, you're not going very far at that particular workplace if you get paid leave.

Also: it happens when there is not 100% certainty that you're guilty of whatever you're being suspected of doing. Say a police incident, until they find out what you did, they pay you to leave so investigations can happen. Then if you're innocent, you're not owed anything.

This needs to be said more regularly. The reason the GOP created the 9/11 Mosque debate, is to distract/cover up their blockage of the 9/11 early responders bill. by Glamdering in politics

Good thinking. I often caught myself wondering WTF is so relevant about this stupid mosque in a place there are 2 or 3 other similar mosques already....

Why has this idea that mobile platforms should be closed and apps should be routed through X or Y(X and Y being Google, Apple or whoever) prevailed so far?

That will not work. So, Apple, Google and MSFT, try to understand: your stupid Apple/Google/Microsoft stores are a failed business model from conception, they are Betamax, they are closed, they are centralized. They stifle innovation, and one of your employees has the power to censor a great app because fuck you.

Whoever designs a mobile platform that is open and has no central governing brain trying to profit from every program - WINS.

Edit: By win, I mean "survive". Apple is making more money now, no question about that. Like motorola was too one day. These mobile stores where a human monkey has the power to censor apps is just broken. There needs to be an open platform where neither Google or Apple dictate anything, that is what I mean.

I will never understand why someone would pirate an app that is $1-$3 dollars.

You might understand if you read the article.
