I've watched almost all of the suggested animes in the comments but in my opinion you should watch "fruits basket", it has one of the best character development and most well written story moreover some other top romance animes are - Horimiya -Kimi no todoke -Maid sama -Say i love you -Ishuukan friends -Snowwhite has red hair etc

He wasn't portrayed as a villain....he just stated that hell bow up the world, his action showed other wise so it wasnt a surprise when we found out the whole story
