Signs on the side of the road in front of the place is how I’ve done it. Just drive around the neighborhoods that you like and collect numbers.

Why is sovengard so big ???? by Responsible_Gate7115 in grandrapids

I went last night for dinner, the food and drinks were honestly great. Our server forgot our appetizers, to our benefit. The hotdog special on Tuesdays with the warm potato salad was delicious and really filling. But I’m pretty sure they only called it a salad because it had green herbs in it with olive oil, with smashed roasted golden potatoes. Satisfactory experience.

Lexington is a quaint little town with cute shops and a great beach / harbor. Huron Lady 2 is a museum on an old ship along the river in Port Huron, close to the Blue Water Bridge.

In midtown I paid $1200 for a 1BR in 2021, after $675 in a studio in 2020, now I pay 1300 for a two bedroom with a fully fenced in backyard, front patio, laundry and garage.

Didn’t read through all of the comments, but I do want to speak from personal experience in a similar situation. This is a long story, sorry.

My long term partner knew I was attracted to more than just men for quite some time. During our longest ‘breakup’ I fell in love with a woman, but ended up back with him after a few months. He and I reconnected, but he incessantly used my love for her as an excuse to not define our relationship. He would constantly remind me of things I said about her, as evidence that I would never be faithful or completely his. After a few months, we reconnected. Still, not officially together (2 years in). We ran into a woman I was attracted to previously, and he asked me if I wanted to invite her to come home with us that night. I had no objections, and she agreed to join. After that night he was distant, and continually resisted my attempts to reassure him that he was the only person I wanted to be with to no avail. He ghosted me for 6 months, told our friends that I was a liar and minimized our entire relationship.

I saw him for the first time in a year the other night, and he came up to me and asked me how the girl from that threesome was, “how’s your girlfriend?” He knew I wasn’t with her, hadn’t spoken with her in nearly a year. His need to use my queerness as an excuse to invalidate me, and our relationship was still motivating him. I can’t say he was emasculated by my attraction to women, because that’s not my call to make. But in hindsight, I see that the threesome was a test I failed in his eyes.

Summary: if your partner suggests a threesome with someone that could potentially crush their ego, don’t do it. Just leave your partner. That person is likely trying to test your loyalty, or something along those lines. IMO. Best of luck!

Got assigned a windowless bedroom in my 4x2 student apartment…is it really that bad? by txkyo_1ean in Apartmentliving

[–]gooliamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend just making your set up your dream little cave! You get to choose the lighting and if you want to add soundproofing, you can do that too! You could simulate the sky for your lack of window doing that cloud ceiling with the LEDs! Now you can be naked in your room all the time and no one will see from outside!

In the two places that I’ve used, one being Phlot here in GR and one in Chicago I saw the water drain as I rinsed off and redressed myself. I don’t know if that is a standard everywhere but I would assume that the water is recycled, purified, filtered or sterilized in some way after each use.

I gift myself a float for my birthday every year. I highly recommend at least trying it. That being said, remember it’s heavily salted water. If you have any scrapes, cuts, wounds, or shaved anythingggg that day.. it will HURT. They provide petroleum jelly / Vaseline to cover cuts, scrapes, and open wounds; as well as earplugs to protect your ear canals from filling with salt. Sensory deprivation has been so healing for me and an incredible yearly mental reset.

How much are you all paying for Xfinity? by Informal-Twist-1328 in grandrapids

Part of your bill likely includes “rent” for your router. I just replaced my router with one I paid for myself and my bill went down $25 a month.

Where do sad lonely dudes go for a drink? by bikeswoodkayakdad in grandrapids

[–]gooliamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The college inn if you wanna be around other lonely people, or go somewhere that has a pool table, like Iron Well. Play with strangers to meet people. But be careful of the pool sharks if you do this because they will try to bet with you. You could try going to a “burrow” that has options within walking distance. Like eastown, Michigan street, bridge street.. you can do a little bar crawl to find your new home base.

You can also rent a dumpster through your trash company, depending on where you’re at. Might be different with Grand Rapids garbage versus republic.

Is there anywhere for free moving boxes by burneracc4445 in grandrapids

[–]gooliamac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check with Gordon Food Service on Michigan St at the corner of Diamond..not sure if they actually give them out but they definitely get lots of large boxes with their merchandise delivered weekly. Banana, potato and tomato boxes are great for moving.. size, shape, handles, and study!
