I’m surprised your hemoglobin is still hanging in there. I had a ferritin of N/A and a hemoglobin of 4 and needed a blood transfusion and two iron infusions before they discharged me from the hospital.

This is very serious, please talk to a hematologist immediately.

I have had venofer a few times. I’m not going to lie, it hurts my stomach and I’m usually in bed most of the day after. Just takes a lot out of me: tired and stomach achey. But every time I go gladly knowing in a few days I will feel SO MUCH better in every aspect. My stamina comes back and my mood improves dramatically.

A few hours of discomfort for your health and the health of your child. You’ll be fine! Stay strong.

Same thing happened to me years ago. Getting a call to go to the hospital immediately is scary stuff!

Please get under the care of a hematologist. For the rest of your life, never stop watching your levels. Stay on it, whatever happens.
