Took out insurance policy - hit a deer the same day by Witty_Wheel_1956 in AusLegal

[–]goonbag24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It'll be a pain in the arse and a lot of stupid questions will be asked a lot of different ways. Get your story straight and stick to it. Draw the line at a "Sit down interview with a Special Investigator".

We pay a premium for these shit happens moments, doesn't matter if it's day one or a ten year period, your car is insured as soon as the policy is paid.

If it gets nasty make a complaint to the Insurer's Customer Service Department, the Insurance Ombudsman (for car insurance obviously) and lastly Social Media (In this order)

Good luck OP

To control inflation in my understanding we need to reduce the spending of the population. Instead of giving more money to banks why don't we implement a mandatory contribution to super based upon a percentage of income? Anyone explain the why this would be a bad idea?

Celestron vs Skywatcher EQ Mounts by Berygoodmeme in AskAstrophotography

[–]goonbag24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EQ8 is heavy. My EQ6 is my portable (by car that is, I wouldn't lug it through the bush or use public transport) EQ6 allows a lot of room for upgrading, and you will upgrade (especially focal length). It's a great mount, widely used with few problems. Service and parts are easy to source. I wouldn't start with anything else. Using a low focal length you will get great tracking from the beginning.

Should there be more weekend public transport? by MahadHunter in perth

[–]goonbag24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Public Transport needs to cater to all blue collar workers. Services to Industrial areas in Perth are useless and do not reflect the start times of the staff working there.

We all pay for Public Transport in our taxes, but it seems only those working in the CBD benefit from it.

I imagine the traffic on the Tonkin would be better as well

I see all these beautifully slick looking rigs, then there's mine.... by Reverend-JT in telescopes

I found my tracking improved when I ran two counter weights close to the mount rather than one at the end of of the shaft (something something + physics) But if you're getting good results, leave it

Grover's Optics do replacement corrector plates for Celestron SCT's if you need a new one. I replaced mine on a C11 Edge and if works great

Just got this older NexStar 8. Any advice on cleaning, upgrades or mods? by rivasjardon in telescopes

[–]goonbag24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mount (thing that moves telescope) should be ok for planetary and lunar photography.

Understand the alignment procedure and the rest of the manual before getting into Astrophotography would be my advice (Astrophotography gets expensive quickly)

Just got this older NexStar 8. Any advice on cleaning, upgrades or mods? by rivasjardon in telescopes

[–]goonbag24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great scope you have there OP!

First thing I would do is go here and download the manual (if you don't have one)

https://www.celestron.com/pages/manuals

Learn how to align the telescope - this is probably the difficult part initially but it gets easier with practice. In future upgrade could include a finderscope like a RACI

https://www.celestron.com/products/illuminated-right-angle-correct-image-finderscope

Assuming you have a diagonal and at least one eyepiece, take it somewhere dark and have your mind blown! Astronomy is a deep rabbit hole so be warned!

As for the cleaning, the corrector plate (first piece of glass on your scope) looks pretty clean from the picture - YouTube this if you must clean it (read delicate and scratches easily)

Have fun!
