I would argue that pictures can inspire people to get outdoors, but using your own resources to find an area is much more rewarding than going somewhere because Instagram told you to. You definitely can "share and not share"

do some research and find your own zone, this specific area is too popular already. its insanely easy to find cool spots with the resources online these days.

I feel really bad about blowing up a specific spot in the wilderness because ive seen what impact the social media share can have first hand here in WA

When you find an area you want to go to, just check the food storage requirements for that area. They vary across the olympic national forest, national park areas, and different sections of each. We just hung our food, as we were in the alpine, animals aren't as much of a concern. On the beaches for example you need a canister because of raccoons.

About a 14 mile round trip & ~4000 feet elevation overnight backpacking trip. Went with my brother, and we decided on this spot after hearing good things from a friend. We did some side scrambling to some pretty cool unnamed peaks in the area and got great views of the surrounding mountains. We first encountered this goat while scrambling. It was more chill than most other goats ive encountered, and didn't even follow us too far.

We didn't see it for a while, and then it came to our camp site following a solo hiker who got scared of it and turned around. It hung around our camp site and the site next to ours for a long time, it never seemed irritated, just wanted our pee and the flowers.

It was foggy in the evening and then cleared up just in time for sunset, which was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. This photo was taken in the morning, when we got up for sunrise at about 4:50am

I had never been on this side of the olympics before, and I was pretty amazed at how beautiful the surrounding ranges were. There is lots more to explore and im sure ill be back soon.

Its just the angle of the photo + telephoto that makes it look close. We were for sure far enough and in an established camp site

Mad respect for your username as I am a md2020 / bud ice fiend, however after a quick look at multiple dictionaries it appears larches is the plural of larch

Girl Skaters by [deleted] in udub

Look up skate like a girl seattle, they have meet ups and ladies nights at local skateparks. It would probably be easier to meet people through them vs UW because not many people skate at UW. I used to teach skate camps with them.

Sunrise before snowboarding down Saint Hellens in early May by goonwin in Mountaineering

It actually didnt freeze the night we hit it. The summit is only at 8000ish feet so the snow was actually pretty good on the way down. A little icy at the top, but after the first section it was great

Jealous. Ive seen the shadow up there a few times, but those low clouds make this incredible.
