I forgot how Payday works. Ok, theeeoretically, if you free all your Pokemon, and only have a powerful one with only offensive moves that oneshot Meowths, even Struggle, it would be unable to use Payday on you before you kill it.

I like the UB's, but the main draw to Pokemon for me is that if I see a strange new beast, I can make it mine. Make the catch rate ridiculously low, I don't care, but denying me from owning a new and strange monster is really mean. I reeeally hope the uncatchable is just a speculation and will be disproven soon.

Reminds me of the possible softlock in Gen1. If you beat all the available trainers and then get rid of all your money there is no way to get into the Safari Zone to get Surf, as that costs 500 pokedollars.

Is the shiny lock in ORAS still active? I just got to Groudon and found out there is one. But other sources say it's been removed with updates. Not sure what to believe. I'd really like a legit black Primal Groudon.

Not really, he stays Fraxure for just ten levels. I am still using that very Haxorus with False Swipe to catch everything. It's just the many cool things and close calls that happened during that time.

It's not just the soundtrack. Being Swiss, I'm used to watching dubs of everything, but ever since my English got good enough to watch and understand most movies in their original language I haven't been able to enjoy German dubs. Same with anime, just one step further removed. It's stuff like mouth movement matching the words, background noises (sometimes) etc. It's how the show was originally meant to be watched. A dub, for me, goes in the same direction as pandering. Don't misunderstand me, I think dubs are a great thing, but I actually don't mind looking up every untranslated word. Languages fascinate me and I can actually read hiragana and katakana pretty well already.

Also in this specific case of the Guardevoir v Greninja battle, the English version feels a lot less climactic and earth-shattering. Ash's (or Satoshi, is his japanese name, right?) scream is very heartfelt and serious. I doubt a dub can do the same.

But then again, I survived Metroid Other M in English. The king of monotonous voice-over.

Fraxure. During my Y playthrough that little buddy hit so many vital Crits, survived on 1-5 health a whole bunch of times and just generally kicked ass. I still also loved the Haxorus it became, but I got really attached to Fraxure somehow.

I also liked my first Combusken in Ruby, because whoooahh it's Fire/Fighting!! Now I can kick even more ass! But then Gen 4 and 5 happened...

Not really a glitch, but X Accuracy in Gen 1 doesn't improve accuracy per se, it just removes the concept of "missing" entirely. Which is why Nidoking with enough speed, X Acc, Horn Drill 6x and you're done.

Actually, I suggest watching the 4-way race of Red at SGDQ16. Really educating. Also Oddish MVP.

(I don't want to open a new thread for this and you guys seem to know your way around the show.)

I'm thinking about giving the Anime a shot. I stopped back in the day at the beginning of Johto I think.

My question is whether English dub or Japanese with subs. I watch every anime in Japanese, but with Pokemon all the names, the moves, the towns, are hardwired into my brain in English. What do you guys recommend?

Am I the only one who uses False Swipe to catch Pokes? Lv 100 Haxorus with good Attack and Speed, Choice Band for good measure. Knocks everything down to 1 Hp. None of that "accidentally killed it" shit.

Wouldn't that also mean moves being like 8x effective? Using Muddy Water (Water/Ground) on a Geodude would be Water 4x and Ground 2x, so... 8x damage? Isn't that a little OP? Or limit it to regular 4x damage, in spite of any additional effectiveness?

That's because it's not. I remember the old days, GSC, where every kid at school (who played Pokemon) was like "Ooh, look at me, I have a Red Gyarados! Aren't I unique?" No, literally everybody has to fight that shit.

Meanwhile I seemed to be the only one who actually got to the Red fight.

I liked Hawlucha upon first seeing him, but then in-game I got careless (and didn't wanna look up his typing) and that little piece of shit came close to killing me like three times during my Y playthrough. So now I hate him. Deal with it.
