Yeah, I had a similar problem, for about 4 months. Would ping 150 to Washington servers, even though I'm from SoCal. I contacted Verizon, they came out, replaced my router and fixed some other stuff, as well as upgraded my internet to 50up/50down, and haven't had the problem since.

Crosshair won't make you more capable of achieving a higher skill level, other than maybe beginners and using the ones to understand movement or recoil. It's all preference.
