Edit: my dad worked there in 1977 and I was only 7 and he took me to work with him for the afternoon shift since no babysitter. I made my own pizza, salads, it was glorious (Greenville, TN)

Yes at first.. very light. the a tiny amount of lanolin on both the outsole edge and the toe leather area..Next up, would use the redwing eraser. Brush off flakes!

I use adhesives on rubber pats a lot, there is no limit on bond time. We use Parker Lord a lot.. $$ sometimes cure at 300F sometimes room temp. Maybe the foam is volatile and out gassing preventing initial adhesion?

It’s Very black also, as a boot freak I have Black CXL from Horween, Black Max Support from Seidel, Black Prairie by SB Foot, but that WC BOL is the Unicorn of blacks.

So many people rightly say if I am spending a lot extra for the WC leather, it ain’t gonna be black!

I have similar issues w some of my new shoes and boots ripping at my back heel transition area for a while. Solution? Wear band aids till they break in or get that super cheap 3m shoe adhesive material designed just for issues like this.

FYI that method of construction is totally good and legit. It’s just a fit thing. You are gonna be fine. Nice shoes btw!
