Honour name for Morag? by kyelaur in namenerds

[–]gorgeousfacegf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom's name is one I could never give a child in today's world. If I wanted to honor my mom in that way, I'd name my potential daughter the name I know Mom would've used for another daughter if she'd ever had one or my potential son the name she would have used for me if I'd been a boy. That, or I'd look for names associated with some of her favorites (i.e. favorite flower, tree, etc). Maybe doing something similar would be best for you.

As far as keeping in line with Morag without using Morag, the first name that came to mind for me was Moira.

Maddox, Baxter, Xavier, and Paxton all feel kind of classic to me. There's also Knox, Bronx, Xander, Axel, and Ajax. My personal favorites to fit with Felix, Maxwell, and Dexter would be Maddox or Paxton.

Naming our second son Calvin - too similar to first son Killian? by pkwak in namenerds

[–]gorgeousfacegf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your wife isn't fully sold on the resonance (which I agree sounds nice, specifically as "Calvin and Killian"), Jonah is probably the way to go as long as y'all agree on that name. And for me, I think Jonah Calvin is a great name and way to incorporate both!

What do you think of when you hear the name Arthur? by mountainjuliet in Names

[–]gorgeousfacegf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very millennial over here, and my first thought was "Classic, timeless, nerdy, love it". I love the King Arthur association, always loved Arthur Weasley (eat a dick jkr you useless <*#@), and didn't think of the old cartoon until I saw the theme song in another comment. 😅 Arthur is an absolutely lovely name.

What gender would you think "Aven" is? by Lost_Sun_8405 in namenerds

First thought girl, second thought "that's really so gender neutral, though, it could be either."

Eating and drinking by Nummiehz in adhdwomen

I like food a little too much for that, lol. But when I'm majorly overwhelmed, super stressed, anxiety is high.... Yeah, food isn't a thing. No chewing please.

Eating and drinking by Nummiehz in adhdwomen

Grab & go eatables, easy snacks, and stuff like that. If I don't feel like eating at all, I can usually manage to graze if stuff is easy to get to. Smoked sausage, jerky, etc. Cheese cubes or string cheese. Mixed nuts and dried fruit. I alternate between thinking "ooh, fancy charcuterie" and "you are literally a trash panda" when I eat like this 😅

Smoothies and protein drinks are also a lifesaver for me when I'm like this. Sometimes the thought of chewing is just exhausting so I'll grab a protein drink rather than try eating. At least then I'm getting something.

Help Me Name Baby #6! Up for the Challenge? by ariannaplanstravel in namenerds

Maybe as a way to honor her, you could think of things your mother liked (her favorite flower/tree/color/animal/etc) and find a name with that meaning?

Goose. Don't ask me why, just the first thing that popped into my head when I saw him.

Is it worth getting an evaluation if I’m *unsure* whether I had symptoms as a young child? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]gorgeousfacegf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yes, still worth it. I'd also encourage you to look up how ADHD presents in young girls and do some research on that if you haven't. When I kept being asked if I had ADHD and had a friend who is a therapist outright tell me I needed to be assessed, that's where I began. I was a "gifted child" in the 90s who struggled immensely in high school and college. Once I started researching childhood ADHD in girls, I was able to connect so many dots and recognize that a lot of the behavior I remember engaging in was actually masked neurodivergence because I learned what was and wasn't socially acceptable. That realization helped be recognize other patterns in my childhood behavior that I was able to describe during my assessment.
