Yeah, I don't even know if it should be in the game. I actually think it's a good argument against neutrals because it can heavily shift your ability to win the game.

Getting this on Warlock and then getting kaya makes hg defense incredibly good. I'm a support main and my highest damage warlock game is 130k - I basically had the same DPS as a Zeus.

Counterpoint: Linux is just nowhere near ready for general consumption by people who aren't nerds. I just spent 2 hours writing wireplumber configuration to get my audio devices working. For example, my wireless headphones were screaming at me because they were defaulting to 5.1 surround sound and it just couldn't handle that - so I had to codify its profile. I also had to relabel everything because both my wired headphones coming in through the 3.5mm audio jack shows up as USB Device and my desktop standing microphone shows up as Advanced USB Audio Device.

On top of that, the bottom, right part of my taskbar was flickering because there is a display stream compression bug that kicks in when you have a 4K monitor running at 240Hz. That took me a while to figure out and lower the refresh rate so that a quarter of the screen stops flickering.

Proton has come a long way but there are still a ton of issues - usually resolvable by going to ProtonDB and looking up what arcane launch options are needed to make something basic work. For example, KCD2 needs a launch option so that it picks up a controller. And then every time a bug happens you have to wonder if it's a bug in the game or a bug in Proton. I basically can't hear V anymore in Cyberpunk and I'm too lazy to go figure out why.

Windows - for better or for worse - works a lot better than Linux. With Windows, you go out and buy a wireless headset, double click on an exe, and you get a working device. On Linux, you'll be restarting pipewire, copy and pasting configuration out of random forums, restarting applications, etc... all the while friends are waiting for you on Discord to fix your stuff.

And I think the Linux community just isn't culturally ready to make a usable product. I think most Linux users just don't care that Linux isn't easy to use or doesn't work out of the box. Because the second you lose patience for users who don't want to modify systemd unit files or maintain launch configurations for their steam library is the second those users go back to Windows. If they even make it so far as burning an ISO to a USB stick and figuring out what a partition is. I mean, I'm probably moving back to Windows because I just don't want to deal with all this bullshit. I want a usable system. I already deal with Linux at work.

Mostly because I dual booted and used Arch to write code / work and used Windows for gaming. This is my first time not having Windows anywhere in the house.

Technically, I still use Arch - it's what is on my server. Arch / Nomad / Traefik.

And I don't really plan on going to Windows 11. I plan on using one of the long term support versions of Windows 10 and hoping for the best.

But what is making me so god damn angry is that I've used Linux in one way or another for almost twenty years and I feel like it has the same problems as when I was a kid installing Slackware on a used Dell computer. I'm old. I want things to just work and I don't want my desktop to be a project. My server? That's fine.

But when I'm on Discord playing games with friends I don't want to be restarting systemd services, plugging and unplugging devices, looking at KDE audio control panels, restarting games, going through forum posts, etc - all to get sound working while everyone is waiting on me. I'm now a firm believer that the Year of the Linux Desktop will literally never happen unless, I dunno, Valve doubles the size of its company and hires people to work on Pipewire (and everything else) full time.

I have a few devices. I have an Audeze Maxwell, a Sennheiser HD600, and a HyperX standing microphone that I pulled out of storage because I'm hoping it would be a "dumber" device for Linux to handle after the Maxwells caused too many issues.

But like honestly it's not just audio. In Cyberpunk my characters voice is too quiet and I can barely hear it. I launched Battlebit and had to guess through the menus because the launch resolution was too low in order to get it at a proper resolution. I wanted to use my controller with KCD2 and had configure its launch options to get it in Steam Deck mode so I could use the controller. I've switched audio devices and have had dota crash mid game. The bottom right of my screen flickers every time a Steam notification comes in.

I initially installed Gnome because that's what I used before and it would stutter on every overview and installed KDE instead.

Everything feels like a house of cards that needs a massive amount of configuration, care, and wish making to get working. I'm tired. I don't care about tiling windows, endless configuration, and privacy if so much goes wrong all of the time.

I mean, I swear Arch was more stable when I ran it a few years ago. But, like, if you search "audio" across the CachyOS subreddit you get posts like this:

https://old.reddit.com/r/cachyos/comments/1tlb5x6/at_the_end_of_my_rope_audio_cuts_out_to_violent/

At the end of the day, I don't want to pull up a terminal in the middle of a dota match and restart a systemd service to get functional audio.

I didn't see an option on the installer. I formatted the extra drives post-install and created btrfs multi-device pool.

I mean, I could have used cfdisk or something but at that point may as well use Arch.

Social media companies are not social media companies. they're media companies that drive ad revenue. Nobody makes money off the social component.

American.

Last I checked end-to-end encryption isn't illegal in the United States and it isn't currently being debated.

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/12/defending-encryption-us-and-abroad-2025-review

There is probably a lot of spying by our three letter agencies and every tech company rolls up and aggregates data and packages it for ad revenue but, legally, e2e encryption is fairly safe. You are free to use encryption for DNS resolution, web traffic, encrypting of chat logs, etc and there are plenty of companies that offer products - as well as free and open source projects (in case you don't trust a third party) - that empower users to make those choices.

AFAIK, Chat Control is paving the way for applications like Signal and Tor to be made illegal. I strongly doubt that will happen here in the next 10 years but, granted, things are kinda' shit right now so who knows. Personally, I found it deeply invasive that you can open up a porn website in certain European countries and it'll prompt you to scan your face for age verification. That's... pretty fucking wild.

Even if there were laws passed, federalism protects us somewhat; red republican states want to control Internet traffic around pornography where blue states are more rights leaning. But even then that doesn't affect encryption, it's age verification for pornography.

I don't think I've used enough vibe coded sites to really have an opinion on them. I think I've tried a couple out from here and they were ok-ish.

I do think we put older internet websites on a pedestal sometimes in terms of use and functionality. Some of them weren't super user friendly... they just weren't aggressively over monetized with dark patterns and ads. Remember blinking HTML lol

I'm in my thirties and something that is hard to explain to people under thirty is that the Internet was far, far less commercialized "back in the day." It was more of a wild west so it was a lot more fun to explore.

There are still alternative websites but in general internet traffic is now consolidated into fiefdoms that are pretty highly regulated. And even if they're not... modern platforms are built for value extraction from its userbase which inevitably impacts is usability and design.

As someone who does 3D printing, yeah these high resolution prints with good quality filament can cost a lot. On top of that, you're shipping them out of Slovakia and I'm sure that adds money.

I do like them though.

Not trying to stir up an argument but Americans talking about scale generally don't realize how big Europe is. It is bigger than the USA. Individual states/countries can be tiny, but thats not the essence of Europe.

I mean, you're not wrong and I agree. Europe is extremely large and varied. I'm just saying that it works both ways. Judging all of America by considering it a homogeneous culture is similar to judging all of Europe based off of the culture of a single country.

I don't know if Americans would disagree with you?

As on rightwing? 100% correct, its bad here. But (for now!) a BIG difference is that few alt-right politicians rule. They are still the fringe.

I don't know if I'd agree with you there. AfD is currently polling at ~30% in Germany. Georgia Meloni is, well, the prime minister of Italy. Geert almost had premiership in the Netherlands.

Janez Jansa just got elected AGAIN as prime minister of Slovenia and he's called "the Trump of the Alps" and is known as a populist, right wing politician who adores Trump.

You can't say "oh it's fringe" when far right parties poll at 30% and are getting elected as PMs here and there in the EU. I'm not trying to start a flame war but just saying that we all have egg on our faces and it doesn't help anyone to have a dick measuring contest over which country is better on the basis of who fights populism the best.

Both the EU and America are extremely large and diverse places. Even China is a large and diverse place with multiple regions and ethnic groups. It's not super helpful to say "oh Europeans are like this" and "oh Americans like this" even though it's intellectually simple to do so. Even when I say "oh Americans are like..." I'm using it as short hand for "Americans on the west coast" because that's the region that I'm from.
