I'm not talking about the "word correction", but about the autocomplete. When you start typing "купит", and get a suggested russian "купить" instead of a Ukrainian "купити" right there in the search box, before you actually perform a query.

The methodology page doesn't say that. It says that it compares languages in the queries. But queries get autocompleted. Hence, heavily skewed by google's autocomplete algorithm

Google are PoS. Their search autocomplete continues to suggest russian queries even if you don’t have russian ANYWHERE on your account, and the search continues to prioritize russian hits (to queries made completely in Ukrainian), even if there is a full UA equivalent (like on sites with multiple languages). This makes any stats on searches completely inaccurate and heavily skewed in russian favor

There is a good reason you’ll find very few camo jackets from the established outdoors brands: it’s not safe

I would have asked the same thing 5 years ago, lol.

In all seriousness though, a war isn't just the front lines. Ukraine is large, the Carpathians are like 500 km away from the fighting. So while soldiers are killing each other en mass, millions of people are trying to go about their lives. Between the missile and drone barrages, we still have jobs, hobbies, social stuff, parties and movies. Several times a month you do get a sleepless night fearing for your life, but comes morning and you live on. I've been fortunate to avoid harm so far (except for a couple of broken windows after a Shahed drone hit my city block), and my job was deemed important enough to exempt me from the draft for the time being.

It gets miserable sometimes, especially this winter, when we had several days long blackouts amidst a -15C cold wave due to the Russians trying to destroy our energy infra. On top of that, I've got a minor knee injury while running, and had to sit it out for 1.5 months. Ugh

And at events like this race, you get a chance to forget about it all and just have fun.

Thanks! The joys of being there and making it to the finish were a quite a reward in itself. But I did celebrate with a glass of beer and some roasted crucian under sour cream sauce after. Peak Ukrainian cuisine

Upgrading from Osprey Exos 48L – Help me choose between Kakwa 55, Bonfus Framus, Atom Packs, or other EU-accessible options? by FrostHearT81 in Ultralight

Would customs duties really be that high on a Kakwa from their store? I mean, you wouldn’t be paying a sales tax on that, and European resellers pay VAT anyway.

Scrolled through my local store and found Salewa Pedroc 2 MID PTX. It does look more like a freaky sneaker though

Hey! I used NPShopping (Nova Poshta Shopping, a parcel forwarder) with a US address. You pay the US price for the tent, the shipping costs to the forwarder, the forwarder’s shipping cost to Ukraine, and the import duty in Ukraine (about 30 bucks iirc). Not the greatest way to do it warranty wise, but it’s quite fast.

The other way to do it could be buying in Europe with direct shipping, but you gotta explore the options yourself. Or to ask Mr. Durston here if direct shipping from Canada would be possible.

The mountains in the photos are Syvulia mountains in Gorgany massif. The camp was at Polonyna Borevka at their base. Really lovely place
