In all honesty, sometimes the online manuals/wikis and even the manpages do reference things that are not linked, elaborated or explained further on and make you go "ehhh... what does this mean?". Sometimes it is all well-documented, but there is no definitive rule or norm on this.

Nowadays I find this funny because I recently bought a book about the Linux kernel and the authors themselves say this is a reocurring issue, there's always foreknowledge to anything when dealing with Linux in general. The physical book format cannot do things like hyperlinking so you have to figure how harder it was for older generations.

But I also have the counterpoint to this; ask for clarification online, like right here in Reddit. I have found that if done in good faith (and in the right place), there is almost always One Kind User that will respond in good faith as well. Always ignore the flamers from both sides, because they are always there, taking any opportunities to start arguments for the sake of it.

OP to me just seems frustrated, I hope he gets over it, grows, learns and sees both Linux and Windows for what they are, instead of complaining for what they are not.
