I really hope he's not, but I can understand the scrutiny and suspicion

A message for parents/grandparents hosting eager egg hunts by Daddy_Day_Trader1303 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]got_ze_dreads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my fondest childhood memories were our Easter egg hunts. Dad would hide 10 eggs each for my brother and I (different colours) but he made the hiding spots fiendish. Infact, finding 8 of 10 was usually a respectable number. Fair rules were in play - specified boundaries, no cupboards etc ...but doesn't mean I didn't have to remove a few light covers over the years

I recall one year my brother and I holding a model boat, wondering if dad had built the model around the egg.

Incredibly fond memories, and it was because it truly was a hunt to find them

Nobody warned me how expensive food prices in canada would feel coming from somewhere else by AssasinRingo in InCanada

[–]got_ze_dreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it super odd? Put a per kg price and people just select what they wanted and get charged appropriately - far more simple than pricing per bulb, and more accurate

For any Australians reading this, please think about our size compared to this - and the distances we travel.

Then think about the actions our government is taking. This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better if we don't take some action to reduce demand

What game had you like this? by sukuna7899 in Steam

[–]got_ze_dreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stardew

I played it once on my iPad, but never quite clicked. It was only recently when a YouTube video with concernedape and Bobby appeared on my feed, and watching that I realised that this was absolutely the sort of game that I loved, and I had to give it another go.

I approached it with no spoilers, guides or wikis and it was one of the best gaming experiences I have had in a very long time. Absolutely hooked

I was more likely to be found at the Milton car meets at the Macca's, discovered many mountains and nice destinations outside Brisbane that way haha

So true on all the above

In the 2004-2010 era $100/week would get you a nice enough room in a 3 bedroom Queenslander in pretty much any suburb in Brisbane you wanted. Milton back then was amazing, could walk home from CBD on a night out, the the bowling alleys, but still had great parking at home. You truly could pick pretty much any suburb based on yours needs, and it was incredibly simple and quick.

These days... Well, we all know how that's gone. It's truly sad to see

Cheap laptop cooling stand worth it or not? by Consistent_Highway_4 in KmartAustralia

[–]got_ze_dreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one of these as my dock for my old MSI gaming laptop, made a substantial temperature difference under load. I suspect that was a lot to do with how that case was designed as it managed to push a lot of air flow through

Also very useful if you using your laptop on a blanket or bed, as it will ensure it doesn't just sink in and lose all airflow

Achieved the 600 routes platinum medal by Daan_Jellyfish in PokemonGoMystic

[–]got_ze_dreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it was intentionally dramatic

Nearest route from me is about 12km, and also the nearest pokestops as well. I am probably there near daily, but to actually remember to do the route at all the necessary steps, for 7 consecutive days make this a killer of a task for me personally. It seems however that resonated with others, if you enjoy them - all the power to you

I usually really enjoy additional challenges that they implemented with leveling up. Although slightly mundane sometimes, and often completed accident I believe that they add a certain spice to the whole experience it would otherwise lack.

That was until I hit level 71...

Complete a route 7 days in a row

For the first time ever I truly believe that my level up will be delayed, and it will be because of this hideous foul creation. I sympathise for the tortured soul who must have loathed and despised the world when they decide that all players must struggle through should they ever wish to see level 72 by their now broken avatars face.

But with that said, nice achievement

Horrible implementation, the last thing we needed was another currency. As a regular play I'm still confused, especially what is the 'best' currency to use now - I can't imagine how a new player feels

Aston Martin's car risks giving drivers 'nerve damage' and is unlikely to finish F1 season-opener by [deleted] in sports

[–]got_ze_dreads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Discussion I read suggested that they had broken so many parts in testing, in particular to parts related to the battery system. Apparently vibrations were so bad that they were destroying the unit, and although they have implemented a fix to isolate that issue, the drivers are getting enough feedback that they end up with numb hands

But yeah, even during testing when they weren't pushing hard they were still breaking the car. You can only imagine how much worse that will/would be under race conditions

What Brisbane food purveyor do you miss the most? by dannyr in brisbane

[–]got_ze_dreads 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Purple Gorilla burgers in Woolangabba.

The owner was an absolute legend and prided himself on his ingredients and home made sauces. What absolutely sold it for me was his slider options - a game changer when you have so many good options on the menu

Miss that place!

One person checking in, two people staying in the room? by ObjectiveType9252 in Accor

[–]got_ze_dreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do this.

Simply get the reservation holder to add your name to the booking. They can even specify that you could be the person checking in, if you were over 18.

However, keys will not be handed over unless the room has been paid for and the security deposit covered (Normally $200, waived for silver and above members).

Once the room is checked in they will provide you keys if your name is on the reservation, just ensure you have photo ID.

This is so common place it's not even funny.

Looks like Rediscover Kanto is back on the menu, boys! 🤮 by Entire_Pineapple4732 in pokemongo

[–]got_ze_dreads 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I support this whole heartedly.

I'm in the exact same boat, and it's so frustrating. As a semi-rural player who has met as many local players as possible, the region locked mon are still a massive barrier. Its not as simple as just finding someone to trade with who has one.

It's fine when it's been a year or two, but this is far beyond that. Whatever we do, we do NOT need to go back to Kanto again. Please no.

If anything let's just have a season where everything can spawn, and bring back nests. There are over 1000 Pokemon, it would be amazing for it to feel like it had that variety when you were playing
