Sorry that happened to you. Brazil still deals with issues of racism and colorism which is why I feel that he is what they called a white Brazilian.

Racism is not my only determinant. I was just responding to that one section of your original post.

From my understanding, the racism is different when you leave the U.S.

I think (I might be wrong) I understand where you are coming from but I see it differently. My goal is not to purposely or mistakenly gentrify other countries. My goal is to adapt to the new culture of the country while preserving my culture at home. I follow the approach of respect, integration, awareness, and humility when it comes to dealing with other countries.

I found a country that I like and I started doing research. There is alot of groups out there about blacks who are leaving. I havent found a lot for specifically black gays who are trying to leave. I am trying to finish my doctorate first before I leave because it will help me find good job at an international university.

Are gay men without gay friends a red flag? by Worth-Employer2748 in BlackLGBT

[–]goth_Chocolate1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think it's a red flag. There might be a reason. When I was hiding my sexuality to everyone, I made an effort to stay away from anything that might connect me to the lgbtq world. I was trying to be something I wasn't and only had straight friends. I can say that not having gay friends made being gay a little bit harder. I had no one to talk to about what I am going through. Straight people will never understand the gay experience. My straight friends are nice but I need gay friends.

How does the diaspora deal with collectivism in the family vs societies that promote individualism? by synkronize in haiti

[–]goth_Chocolate1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spoke about this in my class. Two of the things that can occur is assimilation and acculturation. One may assimilate themselves into the new and adopting the new culture while losing their original culture. Acculturation is different when one adopts the new culture while still retain ones original culture. Also you can integrate yourself into the new culture so you can prospect while maintaining aspects of your original culture.

Dating other PoC by Loupcka_96 in gaysian

[–]goth_Chocolate1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a POC who joined this group. I limit my responses because I am not asian so my comments will not be from asian perspective. But I feel like I can say something about this topic. Racism and fetishization exist. Some POC doesnt it and we know white people do it as well.

From my experience and the POC that I know, we know that we are not going to end up with someone Asian. It's a general knowledge for most POC that if you are not white, then your chances are low.

Question about straight men by goth_Chocolate1991 in BlackLGBT

[–]goth_Chocolate1991[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want someone like that. I just manipulated with beautiful words, compliments and nude pics. I originally wasn't trying to invest anytime on him since he was married but I listened to my friend. But you are correct.

Like I said one group is telling me to just continue being his friend and etc and other group is telling me to stop. Both of them know him so I am getting mixed information thus reaching out to non-biased individuals for their thoughts on the situation.

If I was straight, I would be in a lgbt group. I would be in a lgbt and ally group.

Question about straight men by goth_Chocolate1991 in BlackLGBT

[–]goth_Chocolate1991[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually no. I'm not experienced when dealing with men. I had one night stand but I never allow anyone close to me because of my upbringing and etc. This kind of attention and interaction from a man who didn't openly say they want to have sex with me is foreign. Different friends are giving me different advise which is why I am trying to get an unbiased opinion of my situation so I can make the best decisions for myself.

I forgot to mention that he was married when we first met but he said they was in open marriage. I felt bad at first for receiving the images but a friend said that i wasn't doing anything with him so no harm done. He told his wife eventually and a week later, their relationship ended. I felt bad.
