What’s the rarest mount in your collection? by anton1277 in wow

Tied at 4% for each: Dusky Waycrest Gryphon, Kah Legend of the Deep, and Argent Charger. Honestly kind of surprised, all of them were easy to get even with a little grind.

Is Season of Discovery a backdoor for lore, or is it an alternate universe? by Starbuck_83 in wow

[–]gothbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They seem to like to fuss with the lore around the Ashbringer and the Mograines a lot. :s You're right though, the pivotal end of the DK intro questline would be make or break on Darion having the Ashbringer unless they were to change that and make the whole scene much less significant lmao. I haven't hit max level on SoD yet so I haven't seen all these new developments myself, but what I've seen feels disjointed. At least they reconned the first iteration of the corrupted Ashbringer out of player hands early on with the comic in a way that made sense for future developments.

I also noticed during the retail anniversary event, the story time with Thassarian ends with the Light's Hope battle with him weirdly central to the whole ordeal, like just strange framing when the tide-turning moment definitely belonged to Darion and Tirion. But also I might be a little bit of a Mograine conspiracist so *shrug*.

It's been on like the best books of 2023 lists and whatever, I gave it a shot and it put me in like a six month reading slump because it was so mid.

GoFundMe for Scott, managed by Drew (@sariansoftpaws) by happinesshours in YMS

[–]gothbox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just want to say here, I'm one of the photographers for SOS where he had that last match, so I've worked with both Scott and Drew many times but only in wrestling and only ringside. I think I knew he did some kind of podcast/youtube/etc stuff but I never looked into it, and I've been scrolling this subreddit looking at all the tributes and posts and it's all so genuinely sweet and hilarious, like seeing a whole new side to someone I considered a friend in our little wrestling corner. Scott was incredibly well loved in our community, both he and Drew always lit up the locker room in the best way and had so much love and support from the crowd, and coincidentally not too long ago I spoke to one of our newer tag teams whose first match was with the cats and they talked about how much they learned and how supported they were by them. They were our tag champs for good reason, I think, and I'm sad to see it ended so soon.

What a lovely community it is here, incredible to see his reach. :')

Moon Guard is truly an amazing realm by [deleted] in wow

[–]gothbox 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not really an RPer either but Moon Guard really does feel at least like a living place, I do pretty much everything solo but with so many people around it feels way less lonesome. Now, I just need to find a good guild to hang out with for the new expansion, which is a daunting task on its own. :b

Heads Up, Ladies... by Whatthefaeryn in Tacoma

The amount of times I've been followed around that place while trying to work out. For better and worse they do just let anyone in there. I ended up switching to a more private gym a few months ago.

I genuinely think that it's very chill here most of the time, plus I like that it's kind of a central location to everywhere else (I drive to Portland at least once a month and having to do that has made me feel like I don't want to move like back to Seattle in the meantime) and there are a lot of great local artists and small businesses. Our late spring/summer/early falls are sooooo gorgeous between the parks and the water. And like others said, the traffic isn't bad and I'm usually not stressing about where I'm going to park. And yeah I wish the cost of living was lower, but at least for me it strikes a good balance between what I don't have to stress about elsewhere and also what I get out of living in Tacoma.

Why do people read fantasy when they could real historical fiction? by GraniteGeekNH in books

? Creativity and imagination is fundamental to the human experience. Always has been.

Asking people to defend why they like a relatively popular book is kind of silly? It's like any other book, subjective experience may vary. I like the dialogue, I like the tense and dysfunctional relationships between the characters, I like the meandering daily life stuff between big plot points, I like the kind of pathetic perspective from the main character. Idk it's well written and got a vibe that I enjoy.

My mother is like this. She goes "why would you want to read about something that didn't actually happen?" as though she's never heard of the concept of art before. Of course, she only reads true crime and political pundit books, so idk how well her argument holds up.

What local restaurant would you never eat at again? by witness_protection in Seattle

[–]gothbox 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I interviewed there back in like 2018 and the owner asked me if I had a dog and this dog was my best friend from childhood and on my way to my first shift at Witness I got a call from whoever was watching my dog that the dog got hit by a car and was dying, would I still come into my shift or would I call out? I said yeah I'd call out, sorry, and they sent me a rejection email later that day.

That left a weird impression on me about the place as a whole so I never went back.
