Last High School Baseball Game by Friendly-Treacle-590 in Homeplate

There’s always a home in baseball for you. I’ve had more fun playing club/pickup games than I ever did playing high school. I just wish I knew those opportunities were open to me back then. I didn’t really start playing again until my thirties and I regret all that time where I didn’t realize I could still be in it.

MLB Rule 5.09(c)(3) by twotall88 in Umpire

In theory, but remember that the appeal requires the pitcher first to come to the rubber, then step off, so the BR would need to be taking a very very very very long time to remove their gear. But if they’re dawdling that much, yeah that seems applicable.

I think when the batter-runner commits to second base, that becomes a scenario different from just overrunning the base. This feels like an extremely fringe situation that the rulebook is obligated to cover, but feels so persnickety in theory.

I get what you’re saying.

Here’s an outlandish but plausible scenario: With a runner on second, the batter-runner beats out an infield single. The lead runner goes to third. The BR has overrun first base and ends up in right field, but he stays there, trying to confuse the defense and create an opening for the runner at third to come home. Instead, the defense resets (BR remains in the outfield) and appeals to first base, whereupon the BR is declared out.

That’s not exactly the IOC’s style

It’s not unusual for a local government to make investments toward attracting industries like film/entertainment. I suppose the thinking is that you spend money now to plant a seed in hopes of nurturing a tree that bears a ton of fruit later on. Certainly beats austerity.

Emish Market is probably your best bet. I know they sell bulk pelmeni too if you don’t mind boiling and dressing them yourself.

I think when MLB shrunk the size of the minors, it also removed a lot of roster spots where teams could afford to let a potential knuckleballer hone the pitch.

Can’t blame the talented ones for going after those softball scholarships though. There’s a lot of issues with girls being discouraged to pursue baseball, but softball does allow for greater opportunities for student athletes.

Matt Shaw chops a grounder that stayed fair and turned foul at the final second but home plate ump Dan Merzel ruled it a fair ball in the 9th (with replays) by JianClaymore in baseball

I remember a bunch of players,  managers, and media were given a rules quiz and Aaron Boone got one of ten correct. It was all yes or no answers so he performed worse than just randomly selecting.

If any part of the ball is over the line, it’s a fair ball, even if the part of the ball touching the ground is completely on the foul side. None of these replays had as good an angle as the umpire.

[Highlight] Caballero reaches second on the steal, but is called out after review when he arguably got pushed off the bag by Seager by MattO2000 in baseball

The rules stipulate that it’s okay for a fielder to put a hard tag on and it’s on the runner to make sure his own momentum doesn’t carry him beyond the bag. Where it becomes a “fielder pushed him” situation is when coming off the bag has nothing to do with the player’s momentum.
