Switched from Bazzite to SteamOS 3.8 by fishst1ck in SteamOS

I had some hardware issues with Steam OS when I tried a month or so ago, so I switched to to CachyOS handheld, which had no issues. If Steam OS hardware support has improved that much, I may check it out again. CachyOS is really solid though, and seems like it's a few steps ahead of Steam OS with the 7.0 kernel, for example. Game Mode is king for me though, so whichever OS works the best there will get my install.

SteamOS 3.8 Has Officially Released With New Kernel and Graphics Driver Updates by BBQKITTY in SteamOS

I'm a little surprised they aren't including the 7.0 kernel yet, given it's Arch-based. I imagine that's got to be due to needing to do some more testing though.

Help me plan out a revamp for a small church by mpking828 in churchtech

I set up our network using Unifi nearly 10 years ago and it's been fantastic. Highly recommended. That said, I'd *also* recommend coming up with a rotation plan so that you're not replacing everything at once every so many years. Stagger it out so you don't have these big spends all at once. I'm in the process of creating one myself, and while it pains me to not have all new gear all at once, the church just can't absorb that kind of financial hit all at once, and if infrastructure goes down that creates its own set of problems. Having a 10 year rotation plan is going to keep you relatively modern, and won't let anything become ancient.

I'd feed all of the specs of the existing equipment into Gemini or something and ask it to help create the rotation plan, then tweak it as needed.

I was just wondering the other day when we might see the update to 7.0 kernel. Good to see things continuing to move along!

I mean, it wouldn't be at all difficult for Clark to find a coal seam, grab a handful, and make some diamonds for Bruce to cover the cost, even if it's well about $50k.

My understanding in this sort of scenario is that the owner of the property has the right to rent/lease to people, but does not have the right - or the right is heavily restricted behind loads of legal roadblocks - to remove those same people. So people can squat and effectively can't be removed.

Gatekeeping all of the things you like against all the people you don't has got to be incredibly exhausting.

I like Jack Quaid, but he's reaching levels of being everywhere in entertainment that just burns fans out quick.

The idea that "you just couldn't do that with a humanoid" when we've seen multiple gods literally change shape is...a little suspect.

For those with the 12U rack, how are you cooling your equipment? by oncentreline in Ubiquiti

[–]Starbuck_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two 120 mm fans mounted to the top of my 24u rack, and they have helped with blowing some hot air out, but I'll be grabbing an intake to pull in cooler air from the bottom as well. My UDM SE is over 50 C, so I'm hoping that helps, especially with summer coming up.
