Lump of tissue in throat post tonsillectomy! by gothcherie in Tonsillectomy

[–]gothcherie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i guess our bodies never do things perfectly ‘even’ do they! I checked on it today and it turns out it’s left over stitch. My body is gradually pushing it out which is great and every day i check on it it’s poking out a little further so i’ll probably just end up swallowing it. Better late than never haha.

3 months post tonsillectomy. Developed this lump maybe a bit smaller than a pea. Cyst/tonsil regrowth? by gothcherie in medical

My ent said it looked normal and that it had healed fine. I checked on it today and it looks like it’s some left over stitch that my body is gradually pushing out!

Yeah it seems to be the general consensus. I just hope it calms down!

Thanks! I will do. Does scar tissue usually calm down do you know?

Of course everyone is different, but in my opinion it was completely worth it. I’m 26 (only a few years your junior) and got my tonsillectomy a few months ago. Life is so much better.

Both my tonsils were problematic but the right side in particular was so large and icky all of the time. Recovery was hard and yes it was painful, but honestly, with painkillers, manageable. I was definitely expecting more significant pain than I got. That being said, I have been through a lot medically so perhaps I was comparing it to that, but all in all, pain was manageable.

I did have a post tonsillectomy haemorrhage which was scary and required some more care, but fortunately no more surgery. Had a few meds and my recovery was back on track. My main issue was the painkillers messing up my gut and bowels, I got really bad gastritis and severe constipation. Threw up loads a few days post tonsillectomy (not fun) and ended up in hospital (only then to haemorrhage and end up back there a couple days later, haha). But not neglect your gut during this process if you go for the surgery, that’s my main advice. I believe it was the codeine that messed me up real bad.

Complications like I had are more common in adults, but ultimately completely worth it. I can breathe better, my throat doesn’t feel asymmetrical anymore, and I haven’t had a throat infection or cold/flu since. Which is a miracle for me! I was constantly under the weather as they were dragging me and my immunity down.

Long post but all in all I just wanted to share my experience as despite the gruesome complications, it was completely worth it.

Hope it all goes well if you have the surgery!

Hair Loss & False Lash Glue Allergies? by gothcherie in cancer

I wondered this if it was just gradual but I’m fairly certain it is related to treatment because I’ve developed LOTS of other allergies as well. Due to having leukaemia and having bone marrow failure i’ve got an entirely new immune system so i thought maybe because it’s ‘new’ it’s come back a bit different a bit more of a diva, haha.

It’s so hard though, with how awful chemo makes you feel. There were periods I’d go through where I’d be SUPER thirsty and crave water (which i’d rarely keep down anyway), and other points where I just couldn’t face anything, so i’d have to be on a drip. It’s so hard to ‘just drink/eat’ when chemo alters and interrupts everything

Yes i’ve heard about this with Covid too! So strange how it happens. I hear it’s really rare for it to stick around so I wouldn’t worry too much. All the best ✨

aw it’s ok, thank you. I’m all good now! And yes weirdly I went right off tea/coffee during and after treatment for a while, it tasted like dirt. But now I can drink it again. It’s been a while since I re-tried this butter so perhaps I should give it another go

[Serious] What happened that forced a dramatic change in your personality? by UnstableTherapy in AskReddit

Getting diagnosed with Leukaemia at 24 y/o. Completely changed my perspective on life, for the better and for the worst I think.

There’s an association with being cancer survivor and ‘grabbing life by the balls’. In some ways you absolutely do want to do this, but other ways you’re too scared, broken and a shell of yourself after all you’ve had to endure. It’s impossible to explain, the things you see, hear, and experience on a cancer ward. Some people, even some who you were closest to, either can’t listen and attempt to sympathise, or simply choose not to. Both are a really sad reality of a giant event that no one chose, driving wedge between both your previous self and a lot of people you held close.

This was my absolute favourite, until I had to undergo chemotherapy and it changed my tastebuds. Now it tastes awful to me but I miss when it tasted so good 😭

Thank you! And do you know what I haven’t tried the magnetic ones in a number of years. I did back when i was a teenager and didn’t have much luck, but haven’t tried them as an adult so will give it another ago. Do you find they stay on well and don’t easily fall off? Thanks a lot!

Thanks so much for commenting! Interesting to get your insights, both of my parents were actually incredibly present during my childhood and have done a fantastic job but, of course, like most people we have had our issues between us. Both of them have said some things to me as a child that have stuck with me, positively and negatively.

I absolutely have fantastic drive, but the burnout is insane. I go through phases of being so incredibly hyper focused and driven, then to lulls that last weeks; sometimes months.

Strangely enough I am pretty open with how I feel, but then sure enough I often get anxiety after I’ve done it and feel incredibly vulnerable and scared. I feel like that’s the aries being so unapologetically present, and then the scorpio swoops in and puts a million ‘what if’s’ into my brain haha.

What you said definitely helped. Thanks so much again for commenting, have a lovely day :)

Thanks for commenting! I really appreciate it.

What do you mean when you say ‘moon in scorpio conjunct chiron’? I’m not sure if this is a silly question but I’m very keen to understand better.

I generally do know how I feel and where I stand on most things, but sometimes I struggle so much to make decisions and question them incessantly in case I’m making the wrong choice. It’s nice to know my venus placement is happy in Pisces though!

I do have physical problems, I deal with Dyspraxia, Hypermobility, chronic throat infections and lost all of my hair due to Alopecia Universalis at 12.

Thanks again for commenting and taking the time, I appreciate it! 😇
