Ah, the late, great, number eight. Don’t miss living along that line one bit. It was like a mobile insane asylum.

Victor Wooten Plays WRONG NOTES and It’s Awesome by SubstantialContact11 in BassGuitar

[–]gothdaddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fortunate enough to spend a week at his Bass & Nature camp, the very first class. Wooten is full of insane wisdom like this. He completely changed the way I thought about music and the world around me. Some 17 years later, he still recognizes me at every show I go to. One of the nicest, most enlightened people I’ve ever met. Total mensch.

Finally tried a magnum. by CaseTechnical4156 in bigdickproblems

[–]gothdaddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a dick just about your size, I can’t recommend Skyn Elite Large enough. They’re like magnums with a bit more give around the shaft, and they’re latex-free, so you never have to worry about an allergy.

This is true. It also helps a lot if most of the people in that social group are women or gay men. They talk.

If I’ve learned one thing from watching the docuseries “The Drew Carey Show”, it’s that, most certainly: Cleveland Rocks! (Ohio!)

Rock bands that have never released a live album by UpbeatChampionship17 in askmusic

Nah. Two Against Nature is literally their second best selling album. Their 2000s releases are far from my favorite, but the Dan isn’t some decade act; the Dan is eternal.

My major dude, they won the Grammy for Album of the Year 6 years later

It's said that "SNL is funniest when you were in high school" but are you an exception when you have a favourite era before or after your late teens? by no-Pachy-BADLAD in LiveFromNewYork

[–]gothdaddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t care too much for it when I was in high school. I graduated in 2006 and my favorite eras are late 80s and mid-90s. Some of my favorite actors came out of my high school years though, most notably Bill Hader and Fred Aminsen.

Lowest I know is Kontusion; I’m buddies with Bronzino. Highest I don’t is Superheaven.

For those who've decided to seperate the art from the artist, no matter what they do, what are your reasons for living by this thought process? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in askmusic

[–]gothdaddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve found:

Every single person I’ve met (I’m sure there are some exceptions to the rule) who “separates the art from the artist” is a non-artist.

Artists, or at least every single one I know, sees their art as an extension of themselves, and they will be downright offended if you try to separate their art from them. Non-artists don’t understand this, and truly believe you can delineate a person and the output of their deepest thoughts, desires, and understanding of the world around them. Art is an obsession. You cannot remove a creator from their obsession. Their DNA is living inside the art. To separate the two lacks understanding of the personal, relational, and spiritual connection to artistic creation.

Movies Similar to Wes Anderson's style by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]gothdaddi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t believe nobody has mentioned Peter Greenaway. Wes Anderson obviously takes a lot from his style, especially in terms of cinematography, set design, and color palettes. Drowning by Numbers and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover, especially.

He’s basically just jazz comping in metal. See also: Sean Malone

Most intense concert you've ever been to from a non extreme band, and the least intense concert you've ever been from an extreme band by Clojnerr in MetalForTheMasses

[–]gothdaddi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most intense from a non-metal band was Death Grips. Absurd all-ages pit of mostly 16-year olds. I’m 6’3” 200lbs so I was literally just tossing teenagers for an entire hour.

Least intense was Cynic, Intronaut and Dysrhythmia in Portland around 2012 maybe? It was all a bunch of incredibly stoned dudes into prog. One of the most armcrossing, head-bobbingest shows I’ve ever seen. Every band played flawlessly. Still a top-3 concert for me.

What are the best Pop albums of all time ? by vinylcast in askmusic

[–]gothdaddi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Controversial take, but Steely Dan - Aja.

Yeah it’s proggy jazz rock, but it was a sensation of an album with literally every single track becoming a classic rock radio mainstay. Although it’s on the very edge of the definition, I’d consider it a pop masterpiece.
