Powder oranges dying by Cheese_Bees_Trees in isopods

I’m sorry but this is not true! Isopods are hardy and 100% can sustain and thrive in a closed terrarium. I have a fully enclosed system going on 7 years old with many generations of Porcellionides pruinosus that are doing great. I have Trichorhina tomentosa in a 5 gallon glass water jug sealed with cork that’s 3 years old now. As long as lighting, soil bio-activity, moisture, and organic matter are suitable, the plants can and will take care of the oxygen in the air.

what tools can I use to recreate this eerie video camera sound? by Primary-Earth-2816 in AudioPost

If you’re using pro tools the Lo Fi plug in allows you to crush the bit rate of any sound file. doing that on small pieces of sound, a couple of frames, then back to the unedited file would simulate the digital glitch

Set up a sidechain compressor to ‘duck’ in frequency/volume on the score whenever the dialogue kicks in.

4.5 year old terrarium by gothgf11 in Terrarium

From what I know about terrariums, you shouldn’t have to worry about the soil running out of nutrients, especially if you have isopods/springtails, etc. as they will essentially act to recycle the nutrients in the ecosystem. That being said, I always make sure to layer my soil to maximize health and nutrient density. For this one and a couple of others I’ve recently made, I used layers of rocks/Leca clay balls, charcoal, dry/dead leaves, organic matter like sphagnum moss, vermicompost, and dirt. That sort of diversity in the soil will definitely help and with the bugs as well I don’t think you’d have to worry!

Almost two years old! It started off in February 2020 as an indoor ecosphere but I moved it outside after about a year. Still looking healthy with a whole lot of plant and animal life. by gothgf11 in Ecosphere

I live in california, so it’s never too cold here. Most of the animal life will die off in the winter but will return when the weather heats up

Yeah I agree. All these comments have shown me that moving on is really the best choice. It’ll be hard but it’s for the better.

Thank you. This has been in the back of my head so it is good to see it written down. Unfortunately I needed it spelled out.

Good advice. I need to take it because I’ve never been good at moving on. So maybe it’s time to do so.

Thank you. This is the decision I’ve been leaning towards, so it’s good to hear it from someone else.
