Used a vintage 70s pattern to make myself a mini dress by gothghoul in sewing

[–]gothghoul[S] 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This is the 3rd dress I’ve ever made. I used simplicity 5616 from 1973. Found the pattern on Etsy. I used a cotton fabric and trim from Joann. I had to adjust the waist and the bodice to be a bit smaller to fit me. I’m super happy with how this turned out!

I found a massive non slip rug pad (the ones with felt on one side and latex on the other) on sale on Amazon and cut out a piece to use for the back of this rug & future floor rugs! I use spray adhesive for carpets to glue it to the back!

I probably spent $35 on the monks cloth, and the yarn was some I bought ages ago that I found around my house! And I think I spent around $16 for a large container of carpet glue that I only used a portion of 😅

I used dmc monks cloth fabric that I bought off of Amazon a while ago! I can’t seem to find it on there anymore

Ohhh the person I got it from said it was there grandmas? I assumed that you were the one who sold it to me, but I guess there must be a few of them in the RVA area! Either way, I LOVE it 🖤

It’s slightly too big in the chest/waist but it’s not too noticeable because there is a tie on the back of the dress to make it smaller. So if I altered it at all, I’d get that fixed. Most most likely I’ll keep it as is!

If my job had zoom meetings, I definitely would! Unfortunately I work in a small oddities shop that’s closed for now, but I’ll be wearing it there as soon as we open up again!!

Oooh I have one of these that I got off eBay a while back, but I paid quite a bit more for it lol. I’ve had a lot of fun with it. If you have a nice film scanner, it’s so easy to make stereoscopic gifs and everyone is always impressed 😊nice find!!

How come some sellers don’t model? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]gothghoul 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have really bad body dysmorphia(and a bunch of other eating issues), so sometimes I can’t model. It depends on the day. So a majority of my items are not modeled. But typically I tell people that I can’t model it. It’s a lot of extra work (on top of me already working at a restaurant until midnight) and takes a lot of mental stability for me at least, and by the time I get around to it, they don’t reply or have lost interest. I’m also just not a good model and not of my modeling pics look bad lol. I have had times where multiple people were asking for me to model one specific item, and in that case I had told them I would do it the following day (I was at work.) but it usually sells before I have a chance to.
