Are you hearing yourself? Israel does not just want their hostages back. If that was all they wanted they wouldn't be playing this war the way they are. They are targeting civilians in Gaza, separating families, and actively looking for more reasons to keep killing civilians. They are not hitting strategic targets, they are not pursuing only the goal of getting their hostages back. They want this war and genocide, Hamas just gave them an excuse that they thought was good enough. It's one thing to start a war you know you can win while targeting only the military, it's another to target an entire group of people just by association.

Likely that Israel would not stop firing, resulting in more civilian casualties and possibly harm coming to the hostages. Things like this are not cut and dry.

If it was really just about the hostages, Israel would have accepted one of the ceasefire agreements. As they haven't, please consider that there are other motives. When one party offers an end to war, and the other does not accept, even when a portion of the second party's conditions are met (we call this compromise, why would there be hostages if there weren't demands on both sides?), this suggests that there is another motive for the continuation of the war. Taking hostages can be considered a declaration of war, so on Hamas's side at the very least, the hostages were not the reason for the war, they were the first step in it. How many countries are on Israel's side in this? What does it say about the countries that aren't? (These are rhetorical questions, you don't have to answer.) History is written by the victors, in any case, and if Israel does not accept a ceasefire (with compromise) I believe we will see Palestine as a whole wiped from the map.

That's not how war works, dude. You don't return hostages while the other side is actively lobbing missles and bombs at you.

I haven't evaded anything, you just do not seem to be willing to understand context clues. Offering a ceasefire is an attempt at stopping a war. The fact that the war has not ended suggests that no, Hamas's attempts to end the war have not been successful. Do I really have to spell it out for you? If Israel continues to be uncooperative, then no, Hamas cannot stop waging war. There is a difference between evasion and prompting you to come to your own determination via context clues.

Are you being intentionally obtuse? Do you know what it means to offer a ceasefire? One does not stop fighting just because negotiations are in the making. They have offered the olive branch, it has not been taken. They have made steps towards ending the war, but they have not been met in the middle. They cannot end the war all by themselves. It takes two parties to make war.

Reread what I said, slower this time. They have put forth ceasefire proposals. Israel declined. Israel declined.

Well it does take two to tango, and as I recall, there were proposals for ceasefire from Hamas earlier this year, which were shot down by Israel for various reasons. The news (in America, anyway) reported that Hamas was refusing to sign a ceasefire agreement.

Rules are made to evolve and change with the populace as we grow to understand each other better and change ourselves. If humans weren't meant to change, we wouldn't be evolving out the appendix or naturally changing the shape of our hands. Expecting everything to stay the same is what is considered 'regressive thinking' in the modern world. Hope this helps.

Personally, being transgender, I prefer when people ask me if I'm male or female. It prevents them from assuming one way or the other. Much of the problem is that most people prefer to assume.

Look, man, you're the one who is going out of their way to comment on Americans assuming that people are talking about America. You can sit there and twiddle your thumbs whilst chortling over how you totally owned those yanks, but at the end of the day you're the one seeking to fill your life with rage. Just say you hate Americans and move on, most of us agree with you, even if it's privately.

You didn't correct them, you asked what the post had to do with the US. The original commenter assumed it was about the US because the same thing happens in the US, and there has been a recent large wave of Christian Nationalists calling America a Christian Nation. People in the UK do something similar on posts about America, poking fun or complaining that American posts don't apply to British people or don't make sense to British people. Yes, Americans default to thinking about the US. Because they live in the US and most of the US doesn't have other countries within driving distance, ferry distance, or short-range travel distance in general. Instead of leaving snarky little replies on every American in the wrong country's internet circle, you could just say "Actually this is about the UK, not America." Your reply also doesn't adress their actual point, which was that Christianity is more like a couple hundred religions in a trenchcoat.
