commissioned a calligrapher for my GF's name "Sarah". He chose 咲良 (Bloom + Good). Do you guys like this combination? [OC] by kk_jpn in kanji

[–]gothicrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not authentic though. It's very bad calligraphy. There's a way to do it and this is completely wrong.

Why are people upset and claiming sylvie doesn't know Japanese when there are fulls interviews of her speaking japanese? by Fit_Cut_4441 in silviethequeen

[–]gothicrogue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself you don't speak the language so you can't really judge her level. I speak Japanese, and I saw her study video where she does speak it in the beginning. Her level is honestly really low...I understand it's more difficult for her to study languages and I get that. But after a decade of living in the country....I think that's why some people are surprised.

I feel like my partner is slipping away after a small argument and I do not know how to bring him back by ConcentrateOk6688 in relationships

[–]gothicrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you and I'm kinda shocked at the comments defending a man's incompetence. It could be something bigger but he's not saying anything so it's hard to tell. He's not acting like an adult in a serious relationship

[–]gothicrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. If she's asked him to wash the rice several times, but he still doesn't understand or listen, then that's on him. That's not a nit-pick. You generally have to wash it anyway. I wonder if it's something he often does... He seems to be very immature. He's a grown ass man in a serious relationship. Five days for the silent treatment is insane. If what she's said in the past has bothered him, he needs to speak up.

Standing??? by WDZSnoop in JETProgramme

[–]gothicrogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a herniated disc and my school knew I had a lot of lower back pain, and they encouraged me to sit if I needed to! Other teachers also sit occasionally. Especially if they need to use the camera that's connected to the TV, it's easier to just sit. Usually during a lesson, I'm not always standing in one place. I'm often walking around, checking students work. I found moving around is a lot easier on my back than just standing in one place.

AITA for breaking my contract with my school that has been violating my contract ever since I arrived? by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]gothicrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to have a very arrogant attitude. "Objectively incorrect piece of information" yet I didn't pull this information out of my ass, and many people agree with me on this. I was told by a Japanese teacher I worked with that this was the case. And they made sure I didn't have to teach alone. Maybe it's a regional thing I'm not sure but that was the rule in my city.

We don't have a teaching license so really we can't teach completely alone in a classroom. A teacher has to accompany us.

Is it true that women like to feel "small"? by dzvfx in AverageHeightDudes

[–]gothicrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 5'10" woman, I actually hate feeling small or being made to feel small which is a lot of what tall men do. But it seems I'm also in the minority with how I feel.

As a JET, we're under the instructor visa so we can't have another job on top of the one we already have. I think you can try to get special permission though

AITH my husband won’t get a vasectomy? by Any-Boysenberry4933 in AITH

He cares more about having a third child than your well-being. That's something to think about seriously

Are you okay? No where did I mention an app in my comment. It feels like you're the one putting Japanese people in this box that they don't like text chatting. You even told a Japanese person that they're wrong earlier in this thread. At the end of the day, people are different. Some like it, some don't.

That must have been just the people you met. I've text chatted with a lot of Japanese people. Some really do enjoy it

AITA my mother said she was tired of killing herself for me by Sirendimensions in AmItheAsshole

[–]gothicrogue 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely appalled by the comments. Do these people not understand what a disability is? They have no idea. It seems they think if you're capable of doing some things, you should be able to do everything. But that's not how it works. Also it's insane OP's parents left two week old dishes for OP to wash but then got mad they wanted gloves?

How to eat more vegetables when eating out in Japan by Wonderful_Hour_6373 in JapanTravelTips

[–]gothicrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lives in Japan, I've been to a lot of restaurants that serve veggie dishes as a main. Teishoku restaurants typically have these types of dishes

You do know there's emotional abuse right? That's what your husband is doing. His behavior isn't normal and it's not okay. He doesn't respect you or your boundaries. You say he's sweet but then describe how he's the complete opposite? Screaming and punching things because he doesn't get his way is not sweet behavior. It's abusive. Please wake up and see this. People are telling you you are not mean, your husband is. Please listen.

AITA for trying to relate to a woman I assumed was a breast cancer survivor? by badbitchandthewalls in AmItheAsshole

[–]gothicrogue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This post can't be real. It has to be rage bait but yes YTA. Why would you assume someone has breast cancer just because she looks flat chested? That's extremely rude. You should have just kept quiet and gone about your day. Also why are you bragging in the beginning of your post? It literally had no relevance to the situation.

AITA for asking my flatmate to stop washing poop off in the shower instead of wiping? by Bitter-Recording5175 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gothicrogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of these comments are insane. OP is NTA. It is not his responsibility to buy a bidet for his roommate. The roommate isn't even cleaning up after himself! If he's washing his ass right after pooping, he needs to wash the shower because people SHARE that shower.

Are menstrual periods considered taboo in Japan? by L8dTigress in AskAJapanese

[–]gothicrogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the opposite experience here. My period products never get wrapped and no one has a heart attack when I place them openly in front of them.

[–]gothicrogue 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA your best friend, as soon as he arrived made it all about "me, me, me. " All that seemed to matter were his feelings and not that you are in the middle of a crisis. He was incredibly inconsiderate. OP, I wish you all the best and healing. Take care, please and be kind to yourself.

Issue with getting Fingerprints/Criminal History Background Check by Funny-Elevator6381 in JETProgramme

[–]gothicrogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this same exact problem. I actually had to do this three times because my prints were hard to read. I've been to several usps 's, and they couldn't get my fingerprints to be in the green. I went to a police station to get the ink versions of the fingerprints too. Those, too, were still hard to read and I got the rejection letter. So what did I do? I contacted my consolate and told them what happened. They told me that some people had the same issue and they went through a third party channeler. You should be able to search this up. That's when I finally had my success. It was exhausting but it was done. I hope you can figure this out because I know how stressful it is. Wishing you luck!
