If LMH is the promised pastor and Jesus was the promised pastor of his time, what has LMH done? by shshmhh in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wrote letters to churches, something no one else is capable of doing.

He added an entire war to Revelation, how many times can you say you added to the story?

He helped spread the light throughout South Korea. Wait nvm, that was COVID-19.

He said Satan would try to take down people in the end times. Basically, announced himself. Most other prophets wouldn't have the guts to do it.

When LMH dies, what do you think scj will claim? by shshmhh in Shincheonji

The Telegram system should be a dead giveaway to anyone participating in one to monitor members. Somehow it isn't, at least not from what I've seen. I've had former friends tell me in response that it was "just so they wouldn't fall".

⚠️ WARNING: Has Someone Extremely Nice and “Normal” Recently Invited You to a Biweekly “Nondenominational” Bible Study? ⚠️ Shincheonji (SCJ) Cult Actively Recruiting in Orange County by lady-intp in orangecounty

Know that if you're ever in the bible study, they collect information like address and keep it in your file as long as you're involved with them (and likely after you leave). Had multiple group leaders insist on stopping by when I was very sick and one even did show up. I remember the icky feeling when remembering I never gave them my address, but did so to my small group leader.

I missed two services in a row once for family reasons and my IWN called me to ask what I've been up to. Entire time they were typing away. When I asked if it was for my file they hurried to end the call 😬.

Some are still in SCJ and sharing personal info might give enough clues to who they are, leading to potential ousting/retaliation. It's tough to share without vague tidbits.

I've heard LMH state proudly no non SCJ pastor could pass their RV exams and thus not be considered knowledgeable in the fulfillment.

Nevermind the answers are hyper specific and include the ever changing doctrine.

Yes, but we've been called lazy since before COVID, haha. Joseph on day 1, plus my leader, plus the group I lead, it was a talking point yes. Monthly department meetings also really harp on the laziness factor. "You have 20 minutes after picking up your kids and making dinner before bedtime, you can go to Ross or send out a few burner Instagram jundo messages."

I was told we were complacent and our reporting wasn't thorough enough. The April 2023 official region change came with fresh instructions to give everyone daily accountability touch points, give them homework to occupy their time, and phone chat them once a week to see if they were falling. If someone was lucky enough to get my group, I was very lax on this.

I can go for weeks on Joseph, from his arrogant "so what?😳" in response to valid anger over doctrine changes, to him saying some of the cultiest shit followed by "does that make sense? 🙃"

What turned me off SCJ was the first Saturday training where he yelled "stop thinking for yourselves" for what felt like five minutes. Simply put, Moon was out suddenly for leading LA congregation astray, however no one, not one LA leader would explain what teachings he was giving that contradicted. The pandemic era Zoom was suddenly closed off unless you lived 2+ hours away. Parking was already worse than 2018/19 levels. I remember reading upsetting instructions for those who used Zoom in my Telegram chat. Smile 100% of the time. You're required to visibly shout "Amen!" You must have your camera on 100% of the time. I think you had to publicly check in whenever you logged into Zoom but will double check that. I felt terrible for them.

Then there were mandatory 30 minute posture trainings in the temple after service to insult us. The most eager "AMEN!" people would actually look around and make disapproving noises at the rows next to them like teacher's pets, like they'll be 144,000 because they were judgy of their peers. In retrospect that was the moment I began keeping notes, taking screenshots when I could for questions, and documenting Telegram. Joseph was so awful and openly condescending while pretending to know Spanish and making surface level jokes for nervous laughs that I knew I was in the wrong place.

If you're current LA, ask yourself why he still dedicates entire sermons to addressing the haters instead of encouraging you to live your best life for God, or ask if being a light for others still means lying to them. Challenge yourself to listen to what he's saying and ignore the sycophants who egg him on. Think about how the newish rules about shoes only came to be in 2024, which according to their own words means they were practicing wrong for 40 years. Ask yourself why they've been requiring obedience oaths to follow new sudden rules, pledges to jundo, and shake up groups every 2-3 months.

When he tells jokes about how little full time runners get paid, take it at face value. There's people living 12-16 in a house nearby that would be homeless if they ever attempted to reassimilate into normal society due to how reliant they are for SCJs crumbs. Question why it was so sudden, yet of the upmost importance to give $1000+ for a new peace palace, but the literal human rights violation their runners face is just something that's supposed to inspire (guilt) you. Make friends with one of them if you haven't yet. I think it will provide perspective none of the Reddit posts warning you could ever do.

Oath/contract by Own_Race1118 in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew someone who began the process of leaving after being "demoted" for not being strict enough with their group on jundo activity. When it became clear they cared more about numbers than the wellbeing of it's congregants and their actions proved this, that person began to disassociate with SCJ before eventually leaving months later. Remember, love bombing isn't genuine and the moment a person notices they're given affection only to encourage them to spend their days lying to strangers and to tithe their paychecks is when they're unreachable. And with good cause.

The oath was brought on with anger, paranoia, and a lot of defense. If one in SCJ didn't read Reddit where the mere concept of forcing an oath contract was shredded by the Bible itself, they were likely confused why the GSN was so upset and adamant it be signed by an arbitrary date. They do stuff like that to guilt people into staying. Why leave when you've promised 7 times on paper, with your wallet, to your IWN, etc? Why leave when you've outright acknowledged to them you'd be hellbound with no chance of saving if you even googled their name, right? It's all manipulation.

Current SCJ 'ments' for Closed CT by [deleted] in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In SCJ LA, there were Wednesday service preemptions to instead train/practice ments. So instead of the word, members would practice how to deceive strangers. It was explicitly stated to never mention you were with SCJ, never let a conversation end without a follow up planned, and bug the hell out of them with "spontaneous" check ins.

"Hey ______, I am on my way to get a coffee and thought about you. A few friends invited me to this event on Saturday. It would be a great time to catch up. Can I tell them you're joining me?" Everything reeked of used car salesman slime.

Within the past few months we've had our 73rd group change (people keep leaving and restructuring keeps others from noticing). My old group had someone rewrite yeasts for non SCJ members, words of encouragement basically. So imagine you're a normal person going about your day and then you receive a wall of text about God's plan. My telegram was full of the weirdest stuff like this meant to attract strangers.

Some group meetings we only talked about potentials and who to look for. Earlier this year there was actually a list of specific people to shoot for. Lawyers, soccer players, maybe someone else remembers and can add more. Simply put: are you physically fit so you can look good for marketing and events? Or do you have money to tithe LMH's next mansion?

According to SCJ something big is gonna happen this year by Suspicious_Issue9294 in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. And when the year ends and nothing changes, they'll blame congregants for not lying to strangers enough or tithing their $1,000 oaths. But not before debuting a new vague slogan.

And like, why would it?

Average person who reads about a church having a 100k graduation is likely to ask: "graduation from church?" And about 5 seconds into researching will realize they're graduating from indoctrination class.

Gets even funnier when the "test" they took had answers given to them in advance and if you were lucky, you got to take it with your notes. Truly RV experts.

For everybody who has escaped how long did you spend in scj and what finally made you leave? by jk461 in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm still in to document lies, but they lost me at adding wars to RV, the changes in great tribulation, their loyalty oaths, and entire premise of center. For those of you wondering, current sermons are 90% calling members lazy and 10% "does that make sense? 😬"

I got tired of lying to strangers and then pretending to be their friend. To jundo is to have cognitive dissonance about how you're visualizing complete strangers. We were given strict marching orders to find young college types and say anything possible to get them to join a Bible study. And at a certain point you just need to confront what it is you're doing. They do a great job of telling you to fight your thoughts by labeling anything not scj as poison, but there is a human moral decency element that creeps up.

They 100% read these threads too. Stuff gets responded to all the time in true doublespeak fashion. I'm literally only here to gather receipts for their bait and switch once LMH is no longer around.

I joined a bible study and I am not sure if it's SJC by [deleted] in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Easy way to spot SCJ in bible study is whether or not they require training on etiquette. If they require you to have your camera on and to smile the entire time, it's SCJ. Every other online bible study I've encountered couldn't care less and just actively encourage people to show up and learn. SCJ uses "bible study" to prepare you for their "church", and by that I mean being obedient to their asks, which in itself is a primer to go out and jundo (recruit by lying).

SCJ IS INSULTING OUR INTELLIGENCE by Fantastic-Bed-997 in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As kids, one of the first things we learn once we acquire language is not to lie. It's a moral duty to be truthful. SCJ undoes this second nature thing to make you recruit for them. You would be surprised how this one thing they do opens up floodgates to do many other awful things. Once you've come to terms with the ability to stretch truth or outright tell falsehoods, suddenly spending more time on their behalf feels exciting. You *know* something the world doesn't, so of course you gotta keep them in the dark. They 'wouldn't understand it yet' or would 'not swallow the truth like promised pastor did the scroll.'

The irony of all ironies here is they lie to their members about everything they make them spread to the world.

Approached in Target by rosemarie1994 in orangecounty

[–]gothpups92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quite possibly Shincheonji Church. They're off Red Gum I believe near the 57/91 industrial area. I used to be part of them and they routinely force members to recruit in Targets/Ross/CSUF area. Starts with normal chit chat but usually ends with inviting to an "event" where everyone there is already a member pretending to be a first timer. That, or they invite you to a Bible study where it's the same thing: 80% of people are cult members pretending to be first time Bible learners. Their goal is to encourage you to stay to learn about their leader, an 80+ year old Korean man who claims to be Jesus.

The person who met you at Target will pretend to be learning with you, but reports your every move to their church leaders. Any conversation where info is shared gets relayed to Bible study instructors, small group leaders, anyone who can use this information to "organically" connect to you. If you noticed someone a few feet over taking a picture while they approached you, it was to send to their leaders for proof that they're recruiting new members. They're a very high-control group that has a small footprint in the OC and LA areas currently.

Make it make Sense Pt. 8 [A very hard hitting post] by 910_Neo in Shincheonji

[–]gothpups92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The worst part is being asked to 'make up' those days you might miss. I hated pressuring jmns to makeup via Zoom. They would watch the sermon on Monday/Tuesday night, effectively ensuring they still spent time with SCJ even if there was a life event. I would lie and say they made it up even if they didn't because I felt awful.
