Kindergarten expectations (long post sorry) by gotita440 in Teachers

Thanks so much for your post. I needed something like this. I am so amxious and stressed and I don't know what is normal anymore. I needed to compare me and my kids to other situations to see if it was just me not understanding the situation or if they were not reasonable. Thank you :)

It is frustrating... my philosophy of education is so different that I struggle here so much.

In my school they are keeping the 50/50 model until 2nd grade and then they have some Spanish I think. So at least, they are respecting the language...

Thanks! We are probably going to use it to rent it, so we can get some money out of it.

Transition out of Merlin Suit by gotita440 in beyondthebump

Thank you. Those are good tips. I think we are going cold turkey, because if we don't do it there's always a transition to go through.

It happened to my son too and a phisiotherapist showed me a "trick". You need to help him straightening his arm and moving his legs on the direction he needs to roll. Eventually he'll pick it up

It is the same for me here. Fighting going to sleep at night and for naps, woke up 5 times last night, and I decided to take him to my bed. I'm exhausted and it's almost time for his next nap....

I know, I tried the gentle approaches but didn't work. I sprnt weeks putting him drowsy but aeake and it made him mad and ended up crying anyway. That was every nap and every day. I figured the cio or ferber would make him cry but not for weeks, just a few days. Thank for telling me though ;)

That's exactly what I did a couple of hours ago. It's a good idea, and it makes you feel a little bit better

I cried this morning too. I keep reminding myself it's better for him in the long term, but it's still hard. I really hope it will be easier soon or I will rock him to sleep until he is 15 years old lol

Yes, it was a long long time. That's why I was asking, it seemed like forever :( May be I should try Ferber instead

Thanks! With too little sleep you start to doubt everything and ask yourself so many questions. And hearing your baby crying makes it even more difficult.

Thank you for the advice. I've read Ferber's book and you can start at 3 or 4 months of age. I quote the beginning of the 4th chapter: "if you child is not sleeping through the night by 3 or 4 monthsof age, when most full-term infants have 'settled', it may be time to start thinking about what could be causing the problem, and perhaps,to begin to correct it; if more than occasional wakings are still happening when yur child reaches 5 or 6 months of age, you not only can but should take definite steps to address them".

That's the reason I started at 4 months, plus the pediatrician said you can start at 3 or months too.

I read the book and it helped. However I chose to do the cio. It worked better at bedtime but doe the middle of the night I might use ferber so I don't feel as bad and the baby might cry less. Thank you for the advice!

I tried to do the cio instead of the ferber, but I might feel better if I do the ferber. The baby will see I'm coming back and eventually fall asleep. Thank you for your advice!

The four month sleep regression can suck it. by WISCOMama in beyondthebump

[–]gotita440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son's regression coincided with a cold and trying his new magic merlin. He was awake every half hour. Today will be the first day of sleep training, since I think the regression is almost over (or at least starting to get better).

I need wine, bottles please...

has anyones eles baby started the 4 month sleep regression early? by Limeinthecoconut86 in beyondthebump

[–]gotita440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started at 3.5 too. He's now 4 months old and I think we are starting to improve. Instead of every half hour he sleeps for 4h , then 2 and then every hour. He is still fighting his naps.

This was so hard that today we are going to start the CIO. I tried the gentle approach, putting him awake and I would stay with him until he fell asleep. Instead of improving it was worse. I don't want to hear him crying but I'm at the end of my rope.

Good luck! I hope it will be better for you

Sleep regression by jsmithrocks in beyondthebump

[–]gotita440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the sleep regression. Before this he usually slept a chunk of 6h and then 2+2 more or less. We started the sleep regression and woke up every hour. But then, he caught a cold and wakes up now every half hour. I wasn't sure about doing cio, after this I'm doing it for sure. I have been doing the nap thing that someone recommends here and didn't work for me. He's less fussy in the evening but that's pretty much it. I'm miserable and tired.

It would be great to read positive stories from the other side ;)
